About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Manager KYC to lead and manage the KYC and client onboarding function for our broking business.
The role will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate onboarding of clients while maintaining compliance with applicable SEBI, stock exchange, depository, KRA, CKYC, PMLA/AML and other regulatory requirements.
The candidate will manage the KYC team, oversee operational processes, identify and resolve KYC deficiencies, support regulatory/internal audits, and work closely with Compliance, Operations, Risk, Technology, Sales and other stakeholders.
Role & responsibilities
1. KYC & Client Onboarding
Manage the end-to-end KYC process for individual, non-individual, corporate, HUF, partnership, trust and other client categories.
Review and approve KYC documentation in accordance with applicable regulatory and internal requirements.
Ensure proper verification of PAN, Aadhaar/OVD, address, bank details, FATCA/CRS declarations, UBO and other required documentation.
Oversee IPV/video KYC and other client verification processes, wherever applicable.
Ensure timely resolution of KYC deficiencies and discrepancies.
Monitor onboarding TAT and ensure adherence to defined service-level standards.
Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of client records.
2. Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable SEBI, NSE, BSE, CDSL, NSDL, KRA, CKYC, PMLA/AML and other regulatory guidelines applicable to client onboarding and KYC.
Keep abreast of regulatory changes and assess their impact on KYC processes.
Implement changes in SOPs and processes arising from new regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with Compliance on regulatory interpretations and implementation.
Ensure appropriate maintenance of KYC records and audit trails.
3. AML / Risk-Based KYC
Support implementation of the firm's AML/KYC framework.
Identify and escalate unusual, suspicious or high-risk client profiles in accordance with internal AML procedures.
Perform enhanced due diligence for high-risk clients, where required.
Review client profiles from a KYC/AML risk perspective.
Support transaction monitoring and AML teams by providing relevant KYC information.
Ensure appropriate identification and documentation of beneficial ownership for non-individual clients.
4. KRA / CKYC Management
Monitor KRA uploads, modifications, validations and rejection cases.
Ensure timely resolution of KRA-related discrepancies.
Manage CKYC creation, modification and related exceptions.
Monitor data consistency between internal systems, KRA/CKYC records and regulatory databases.
Track pending, rejected and exception cases and ensure closure within prescribed timelines.
5. Periodic KYC Review & Remediation
Establish and monitor periodic KYC review/remediation processes.
Identify expired, incomplete or outdated KYC records.
Ensure timely client contact and collection of updated documents.
Drive remediation of legacy KYC gaps.
Maintain appropriate MIS and dashboards for pending/overdue cases.
6. Team Management
Lead, mentor and manage the KYC operations team.
Allocate work and monitor individual/team productivity.
Set and track TAT, quality and accuracy metrics.
Conduct regular quality checks and sample-based audits.
Train team members on regulatory changes, KYC requirements and internal SOPs.
Identify process gaps and implement corrective actions.
7. Audit & Regulatory Inspections
Coordinate KYC-related requirements for internal audits, statutory audits and regulatory inspections.
Prepare responses and supporting documentation for audit observations.
Track audit findings and ensure timely closure of action items.
Maintain proper records to demonstrate compliance and process effectiveness.
8. Process Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate KYC processes.
Work with Technology/Product teams to improve digital onboarding and KYC workflows.
Reduce manual intervention, errors and onboarding TAT through process enhancements.
Participate in UAT and implementation of KYC-related system changes.
Develop appropriate controls for automated KYC processes.
9. MIS & Management Reporting
Prepare periodic MIS relating to:
New client onboarding
KYC pending/rejection cases
KRA/CKYC status
KYC remediation
High-risk clients
TAT and productivity
Audit observations
Exception cases
Present key issues, trends and risk areas to senior management.
Ensure accuracy and timely submission of regulatory/internal reports.
10. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with Compliance, Operations, Risk, Legal, Technology, Sales and Customer Service teams.
Provide guidance to front-office/business teams regarding KYC requirements.
Resolve escalated KYC and onboarding issues.
Ensure business requirements are balanced with regulatory and risk controls.
Preferred candidate profile
Solid understanding of KYC/AML requirements within the Indian financial-services/capital-markets environment.
Knowledge of SEBI, KRA, CKYC, PMLA/AML and stock-exchange/depository requirements.
Strong understanding of individual and non-individual KYC documentation.
Good knowledge of beneficial ownership and enhanced due diligence concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to interpret and implement regulatory circulars.
Strong team-management and stakeholder-management skills.
Good written and verbal communication.
Strong Excel/MIS/reporting skills.
Ability to work under tight TAT and regulatory deadlines.

Candidates from the following backgrounds would be preferred:
Stock Broking / Capital Markets
Depository Participant
Prior experience handling SEBI/NSE/BSE/KRA/CKYC-related KYC processes will be an advantage.
