Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically capable Maintenance Head to manage and lead the mechanical maintenance function of the manufacturing plant. The position will be responsible for ensuring machine reliability, preventive maintenance, breakdown management, maintenance planning, electrical maintenance, electrical reliability and continuous improvement to support smooth and uninterrupted production.

Roles & Responsibilities

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

- Develop, plan, and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all mechanical machinery and equipment.
- Ensure timely inspection, servicing, lubrication, alignment, and maintenance of machines to minimize unexpected breakdowns and downtime.

Machinery & Equipment Management

- Monitor the performance, condition, and reliability of all production machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure proper installation, commissioning, alignment, and functioning of machines as per company standards.
- Maintain equipment history and identify machines requiring repair, modification, or replacement.

Breakdown Management & Troubleshooting

- Respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns and ensure effective troubleshooting and restoration of equipment.
- Coordinate with external service engineers, vendors, and machinery suppliers for specialized technical support when required.

Spare Parts & Inventory Control

- Identify and maintain adequate stock of critical mechanical spare parts, tools, lubricants, and maintenance consumables.




- Coordinate with Purchase and Stores departments for timely procurement of required spare parts and materials.
- Monitor spare parts consumption and optimize inventory levels.

Team Management

- Supervise, guide, and allocate work to mechanical maintenance engineers, supervisors, technicians, and other maintenance staff.
- Ensure timely completion of maintenance activities and monitor team performance.
- Provide technical training and guidance to improve the skills and efficiency of the maintenance team.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure all mechanical maintenance activities, machines, tools, and equipment comply with company safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and take corrective measures to prevent accidents and mechanical hazards.

Maintenance Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain records of preventive maintenance schedules, breakdowns, service history, spare parts usage, and machine performance.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports to management.

Coordination With Other Departments

- Work closely with Production, Electrical, Stores, Purchase, Quality, and other departments to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Coordinate planned maintenance and shutdown activities with the Production Department.
- Communicate major maintenance requirements and expected downtime to management in advance.

Cost Control & Resource Optimization

- Monitor maintenance expenses and identify opportunities to reduce repair and maintenance costs without compromising equipment reliability.
- Ensure effective utilization of manpower, tools, spare parts, and maintenance resources.
- Support cost-saving initiatives and improve maintenance efficiency.

Continuous Improvement

- Identify recurring equipment issues and implement permanent solutions to improve machine reliability and reduce downtime.
- Suggest and implement new technologies, maintenance methods, equipment upgrades, and process improvements to improve machine performance and efficiency.

Key Skills & Competencies





- Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance and industrial machinery.
- Valuable troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyors, shafts, couplings, and related mechanical systems.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Good knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Solid planning, coordination, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle critical breakdowns and work effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge of CMMS/maintenance management software will be an advantage.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Additional certification in maintenance management or related fields will be an advantage.

Experience

- 5–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience in uPVC/PVC, plastics, extrusion, building materials, or similar manufacturing industries will be preferred.

- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of independently managing mechanical maintenance operations and maintenance teams.
- Good coordination skills with cross-functional departments.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing plant environment and handle critical maintenance requirements when required.
