I’m working on an approximately 80,000-word book on consumer behaviour—about why people buy, choose, imitate, resist, rationalise, follow, rebel and often behave very differently from what conventional models predict.

The core thinking, research, frameworks and a substantial AI-assisted draft are already in place.

What I am now looking for is not an editor who will merely polish sentences.

I am looking for a writer and thought-partner who can take the manuscript apart where necessary and rebuild it into something engaging, intelligent and genuinely enjoyable to read.

Someone who can turn research into stories.

Someone who can make an abstract idea feel obvious once you have read it.

Someone who knows when a chapter needs more argument, when it needs an example, and when it simply needs fewer words.

The finished book should have the rigour of serious behavioural thinking, but the readability of high-quality popular nonfiction. It should feel human, observational and occasionally surprising—not academic, corporate or AI-generated.

What the collaboration would involve

- Substantially rewriting the existing manuscript
- Improving the narrative structure and flow of chapters
- Developing a consistent and distinctive authorial voice
- Bringing concepts alive through stories, examples, analogies and everyday observations
- Removing repetition, generic language and AI-style prose
- Challenging sections that are unclear, overexplained or simply not interesting enough
- Simplifying complex ideas without flattening them




- Working closely with me to preserve the original thinking while dramatically improving how it is expressed

Who might be a good fit?

You could be a nonfiction author, long-form journalist, developmental editor, ghostwriter, or simply an unusually good writer with experience in subjects such as psychology, behavioural science, culture, sociology, economics or business.

Deep expertise in consumer behaviour is welcome, but it is not essential.

What matters much more is whether you can write compelling nonfiction.

I am especially interested in people whose work makes readers want to turn the page even when the subject itself is serious.

This is not a content-writing or SEO assignment.

How I plan to select the writer

Rather than selecting purely on CVs, shortlisted candidates will be given the same paid 2,000–3,000-word rewriting exercise from the manuscript.

I want to see what you do with the material—how you think, what you cut, what you retain, and most importantly, whether you can make it come alive.

The engagement will be project-based and can be done remotely.
