Roles & Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers including RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
- Perform server administration, system upgrades, patching, and configuration management.
- Manage Linux users, groups, file permissions, sudo access, and security policies.
- Monitor server health, CPU, memory, disk utilization, processes, and system performance.
- Configure and troubleshoot services such as DNS, DHCP, FTP/SFTP, SMTP, SSH, and NFS.
- Manage filesystems, disk partitions, LVM, RAID, mounts, and storage capacity.
- Configure and maintain VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines.
- Perform application and code deployment on Linux application servers.
- Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, application, and network-related issues.
- Implement server backup, restoration, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Perform log analysis and identify root causes of system and application failures.
- Configure Cron jobs and Bash/Shell scripts to automate routine administrative activities.
- Apply Linux security hardening, firewall rules, SELinux policies, and access controls.
- Coordinate with application, database, network, security, and development teams for issue resolution.
- Maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and configuration records.
- Handle incidents, service requests, changes, and problems according to ITIL processes.
- Monitor and resolve alerts using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Participate in server migration, capacity planning, and infrastructure improvement activities.
- Maintain production, development, and QA environments.
- Follow change-management, security, backup, and compliance standards.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience in Linux/UNIX system administration.
- Good knowledge of RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Linux server environments.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, FTP/SFTP, SMTP, NFS, and VPN.
- Experience with LVM, RAID, filesystems, disk management, and server storage.
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and virtual machines.
- Good knowledge of Bash/Shell scripting and Linux automation.
- Experience in server monitoring, troubleshooting, patch management, and performance tuning.
- Understanding of Linux security, firewall, SELinux, user access, and permissions.
- Experience with backup and recovery processes.
- Knowledge of AWS infrastructure such as EC2, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch is preferred.
- Familiarity with Apache, Tomcat, Git, Jenkins, and Docker is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to participate in rotational/on-call support when required.
