Sandow Cafe is a new café in Kakkanad offering gourmet sandwiches, burritos, beverages, desserts and more. We are looking for an energetic, responsible and versatile Kitchen Assistant/cashier to join our opening team.
Role Overview
This is a multi-functional role where you will be responsible for both customer-facing and kitchen-support duties. The ideal candidate should be comfortable moving between the front counter and kitchen based on the flow of business.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, efficient service.
- Take customer orders and operate the POS system.
- Handle cash, UPI, card and other payments accurately.
- Prepare bills and manage takeaway and delivery orders.
- Assist customers with menu and product-related queries.
- Assist with basic food preparation, cooking and assembly of menu items.
- Prepare ingredients, sauces and other kitchen components as required.
- Maintain proper food hygiene, cleanliness and organization.
- Keep the front counter, dining area and kitchen workspaces clean.
- Coordinate smoothly between the kitchen and front counter to ensure orders are served correctly and on time.
- Support the team during busy service periods and take up whichever task is required at the time.
- Follow standard operating procedures, portion control and food-safety practices.
- Assist with stock handling, receiving and organizing ingredients when required.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in a café, restaurant, QSR or food-service environment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
- Comfortable handling customers and operating a POS system.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Honest, responsible and punctual.
- Able to multitask and work efficiently during busy hours.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work as part of a small team.
