Job Summary
Location: Hyderabad | (In-Person Role) Role Type: Full-Time (with a standard 3-month probationary integration period)
Department: Systems Service Design The Role: Junior Service Designer
We are seeking a highly analytical, rigorous, and empathetic Junior Service Designer to join our Systems Operations Architecture team. While an intern observes and assists, a Junior Service Designer at TRD Studios is expected to take direct ownership of specific diagnostic workstreams and design deliverables. You will transcend traditional UX/UI design to architect real-world operational ecologies.
Working under the guidance of our Lead Service Designers, you will untangle complex B2B and B2C operations. You will map the precise intersections where customer interactions (Frontstage), internal business processes (Backstage), information architecture, and physical material workflows collide. Your work will directly translate into the deployment of Minimum Viable Systems (MVS) designed to protect operational flow, eradicate undocumented shadow queues, and establish unified command structures for our enterprise clients.
Responsibilities
At TRD Studios, our methodology is anchored in the 5D Framework: Discover, Define, Design, Develop, and Deliver. As a Junior Service Designer, you will actively execute critical deliverables across these phases:
- 1. Discover: Deep-Dive System Behavioural Mapping
- Operational Ecology Mapping: Independently map the actual production, material, and information flow of our clients, capturing how the system truly behaves rather than relying on intended organisational charts.
- Stakeholder Power Dynamics: Conduct interviews to build Stakeholder Influence Maps. You will document informal power centers, identify how conflicts are resolved (or ignored via informal common consensus ), and map the exact decision rights that override planned operations.
- Value Stream Mapping (VSM): Track the physical flow of materials and inventory to identify spatial congestion, supply chain visibility gaps, and the behavioural root causes of over-stocking traps .
- 2. Define:
Synthesising Systemic Constraints
- Problem Statement Formulation: Translate chaotic shop-floor symptoms into defined, actionable problem statements grounded in observed behaviour
- Friction Point Prioritisation: Compile and rank lists of operational pain points based on their systemic impact on overall throughput, setup-time losses, and revenue.
- 3. Design Develop: Architecting Minimum Viable Systems
- Service Blueprinting: Draft comprehensive, end-to-end As-Is and To-Be Service Blueprints that visualise the lines of interaction, lines of visibility, and internal support processes.
- Operational Rulebooks Tools: Take ownership of designing simple, algorithmic production Priority Rulebooks, Material Readiness Checklists, and physical Kanban boards to replace reactive firefighting.
- Pragmatic Digital Architecture: Translate designed physical processes into ERP Stage 1 requirements. You will ensure that digital interfaces respect environmental constraints of workers handling heavy machinery who cannot easily navigate complex touchscreens, requiring hybrid analog/digital handoffs.
- 4. Deliver: Scaling, Piloting, and Measurement
- Pilot Management: Support the rollout of controlled production pilots on specific product families. You will observe daily shift-locking standups, track early operational metrics, and iterate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on live human friction.
- KPI Tracking Dashboards: Help design and monitor weekly one-page operations dashboards utilising core operational KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery percentages, work order lead times, and machine utilisation).
The Mindset Qualifications We Are Looking For
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience in Service Design,
UX Strategy, Systems Engineering, or Industrial Design. A robust portfolio demonstrating complex systems mapping is required.
- Systems Thinker: You possess the ability to zoom out and view a business not as isolated departments, but as a complex, interconnected ecology.
- Behavioural Empathy: You understand that operational paralysis is rarely a pure technology issue; it is a symptom of informal communication, infinite Work-In-Progress (WIP) limits, and an absence of unified command.
- Methodological Rigor: Demonstrated proficiency in industry-standard frameworks such as Service Blueprinting, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), RACI matrices, and deploying Minimum Viable Systems (MVS).
- Analytical Detective: You are comfortable diving into raw data, conducting stakeholder interviews, auditing legacy Excel architectures, and identifying the invisible structures that override the intended logic of a business.
- Design Tool Proficiency: High competency in tools like Figma, Miro, and mapping software to create highly granular, readable system overview maps, process charts, and UI mockups for internal dashboards.
Why Join TRD Studios
At TRD Studios, you will not be designing theoretical features in a vacuum. You will be exposed to the raw, unfiltered reality of enterprise operations. You will learn how to pragmatically bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and ground-level execution, working alongside experts to engineer real-world business scale and operational resilience.
To Apply or Inquire
Please send your resume, a portfolio showcasing systems thinking, service blueprints, or operational design projects, and a brief introduction to our design team.
