API Developer / API Designer Java, Spring Boot (Cards / Financial Services)

Role Objective

Hire an experienced API Developer / API Designer to design and deliver secure, scalable, highperformance APIs for Cards and Financial Services platforms, supporting businesscritical transaction flows and integrations.

Core Responsibilities (What They’ll Do)

- Design and build REST APIs using Java & Spring Boot
- Define API contracts, standards, versioning, and documentation
- Implement microservices and eventdriven flows using Kafka
- Deploy and run APIs on AWS cloud environments
- Ensure security, compliance, resilience, and observability
- Collaborate with Cards business, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams

MustHave Skills

Technology

- Java (8 / 11 / 17), Spring Boot
- REST API design & integration
- Apache Kafka (eventdriven architecture)
- AWS (EC2/EKS, S3, RDS, IAM,



API Gateway)
- SQL databases (Oracle / PostgreSQL / MySQL)

Domain

- Solid experience in Cards or Financial Services
- Understanding of card transaction flows & banking APIs
- Experience with highthroughput, regulated systems

GoodtoHave / Value Add

- API Gateway (Spring Cloud / AWS API Gateway)
- OAuth2, JWT, mTLS security models
- Redis / caching, performance optimization
- Observability tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, ELK, Prometheus)
- Experience in Cards migration or platform modernization

Experience Profile

- 6–10 years backend / API development experience
- Prior work on banking, cards, or payments programs preferred
