About the RoleConsultancy Mantra is looking for experienced Contract Instructional Designers / Curriculum Developers to support the development of an asynchronous Advanced Diploma programme.
The selected professional will convert approved curricula and subject-matter inputs into structured, engaging and academically sound digital learning materials that students can complete independently.
This is a project-based, remote engagement with milestone-based deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Review module outlines, learning outcomes and reference materials.
- Break modules into units, lessons and manageable learning sections.
- Develop detailed module and unit-level instructional plans.
- Apply appropriate instructional-design and multimedia-learning principles.
- Create content outlines and storyboards for lecture presentations.
- Develop interactive lecture slides with comprehensive instructor notes.
- Structure learning content for independent, asynchronous study.
- Develop activities, reflection questions, examples and knowledge checks.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts to ensure academic accuracy.
- Coordinate with presentation designers for visual treatment of content.
- Develop or review diagnostic, formative and summative assessments.
- Ensure alignment between learning outcomes, content, activities and assessments.
- Incorporate feedback from academic reviewers and project stakeholders.
- Maintain consistency in language, structure, tone and instructional approach across modules.
- Follow project templates, style guides, academic standards and production timelines.
Expected DeliverablesDepending on the assigned module, deliverables may include:
- Module architecture and curriculum map.
- Unit and lesson plans.
- Interactive lecture presentations.
- Detailed, ready-to-deliver instructor notes.
- Student reading and reference materials.
- Real-world examples and industry case studies.
- Learning activities and self-practice exercises.
- Diagnostic, formative and summative assessments.
- Answer keys, feedback and rationales.
- Assessment blueprints and learning-outcome mapping.
- Revised and quality-checked editable source files.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, English, Management, Technology or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, academic content development or digital learning.
- Demonstrated experience developing higher-education, vocational or qualified learning programmes.
- Strong understanding of learning outcomes, Bloom’s Taxonomy, assessment alignment and adult-learning principles.
- Ability to convert complex subject matter into clear, structured and learner-friendly content.
- Excellent written English, editing and information-organisation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently, meet milestones and respond constructively to feedback.
Preferred Experience
- Experience creating asynchronous or self-paced digital learning materials.
- Experience developing instructor notes and facilitator resources.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms, SCORM, Articulate Storyline, Rise, H5P or similar tools.
- Experience working with Canadian colleges or competency-based education frameworks.
- Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive-design principles.
- Experience managing multiple modules or collaborating with SMEs, designers and reviewers.
