We are looking for IELTS Coach to be based in Chennai.
Reporting To: Head of Academics / Centre Head
Location: Chennai
Job Summary:
- The IELTS Coach will be responsible for preparing students to achieve their desired scores in the IELTS Academic examination through structured instruction, individualized coaching, regular assessments, and targeted feedback.
- The role requires excellent command of the English language, a strong understanding of the IELTS examination format and assessment criteria, and the ability to identify individual learning gaps and develop effective strategies to improve students' performance across Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured and engaging IELTS preparation sessions covering Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Develop lesson plans, practice exercises, mock tests, and learning resources aligned with IELTS requirements.
- Assess students' English proficiency and identify individual strengths, weaknesses, and learning gaps.
- Provide targeted coaching and constructive feedback to improve students' language skills and IELTS band scores.
- Coach students on examination strategies, question types, time management, and effective approaches to each section.
- Evaluate students' Writing and Speaking performance using relevant IELTS assessment criteria and band descriptors.
- Support students in improving academic writing, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, coherence, and accuracy.
- Conduct regular mock tests and assessments to monitor and track student progress.
- Develop individualized improvement plans for students requiring additional support.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, assessments, and progress.
- Stay updated on IELTS examination formats, assessment standards, teaching methodologies, and developments in English language education.
- Collaborate with academic and student-support teams to ensure a consistent and effective learning experience.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of IELTS curriculum, training materials, and assessment practices.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of the IELTS Academic examination format, structure, assessment criteria, and band descriptors.
- Excellent command of the English language, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Robust knowledge of English grammar, vocabulary, syntax, pronunciation, and phonetics.
- Strong academic writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to coach students across Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Ability to explain complex language concepts clearly and effectively to students with varying levels of proficiency.
- Strong understanding of IELTS examination techniques, question types, time management, and scoring strategies.
- Ability to assess student performance, identify learning gaps, and provide specific and actionable feedback.
- Strong presentation, classroom management, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to motivate, engage, and build confidence among students.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to develop effective lesson plans, learning resources, assessments, and individualized learning plans.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an academic environment.
- Strong student-focused and results-oriented approach.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, Linguistics, TESOL, Education, or a related discipline.
- Strong English language proficiency, preferably demonstrated through a high IELTS Academic score (Band 8.0–9.0) or equivalent evidence of proficiency.
- Relevant experience in English language teaching, training, or academic coaching.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and assess English language skills across Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
Preferred / Desirable
- Prior experience in IELTS preparation and coaching.
- Recognized English language teaching qualification such as CELTA or DELTA.
- Postgraduate qualification in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
- Experience preparing students for IELTS Academic and/or other international English language proficiency examinations.
- Demonstrated track record of improving students' IELTS band scores.
Key Performance Indicators
- Improvement in students' IELTS mock and actual examination scores.

- Student attendance, engagement, and completion of assigned learning activities.
