About the Role
We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead end-to-end human resources operations at our pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have deep exposure to plant/factory HR, statutory compliance under labour laws applicable to pharma/manufacturing units, and solid experience managing both workmen (unionized/non-unionized) and staff cadre.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR & Business Partnering
- Act as a strategic HR partner to plant leadership, aligning HR initiatives with production and business goals
- Drive manpower planning, budgeting, and workforce optimization for the plant
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Oversee onboarding, induction, and orientation programs
Industrial Relations & Compliance
- Maintain harmonious industrial relations; handle union negotiations, wage settlements, and grievance redressal
- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, ESI, PF, Payment of Wages Act, Payment of Bonus Act, and other applicable labour laws
- Liaise with government/labour authorities, factory inspectors, and statutory bodies
- Handle disciplinary actions, domestic enquiries, and legal matters related to labour disputes
Performance Management & L&D;
- Drive performance appraisal cycles, KRA/KPI setting, and PMS implementation
- Identify training needs and coordinate GMP/GxP-compliant training programs (mandatory in pharma manufacturing)
- Support succession planning and leadership development
Employee Engagement & Welfare
- Drive engagement initiatives, welfare schemes, canteen/transport management, and employee grievance handling
- Ensure adherence to safety, health, and welfare provisions applicable to factory workers
Audits & Documentation
- Support HR-related documentation for regulatory audits (USFDA, WHO-GMP, ISO, customer audits)
- Maintain personnel files, training records, and statutory registers as per pharma compliance norms
Contract Labour Management
- Manage third-party/contract labour compliance, vendor coordination, and manpower agencies
Desired Candidate Profile
- Education: MBA/PGDM in HR or equivalent; additional certification in Labour Law preferred
- Experience: 10-15 years in HR, with at least 57 years in a pharmaceutical/manufacturing plant setup
- Strong knowledge of: Factories Act, IR/ER practices, statutory compliances, union handling
- Familiarity with: GMP/GxP documentation requirements from an HR/training standpoint
- Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; proficiency in HRMS/SAP HR/Excel
- Prior experience in handling union/workmen relations in a manufacturing/pharma environment is essential
