Role summary The Senior DevOps & Enablement Engineer to serve as the critical bridge between our new Kubernetes-based Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and our software development teams. This high-impact role focuses on creating a world-class developer experience.
You will ensure application teams can onboard to the platform seamlessly, automate their software delivery lifecycles, champion modern DevOps practices, and continuously improve the platform based on real developer feedback. The role demands deep technical expertise combined with strong enablement, advocacy, influence, and systems-thinking capabilities.
You will act as both a hands-on technical expert and a trusted developer advocate—translating platform capabilities into practical workflows that teams adopt and value.
Responsibilities
1. Developer Enablement & Platform Adoption
- Serve as the primary technical contact and trusted advisor for application teams on how to effectively deploy, manage, monitor, and operate their applications on the Kubernetes platform.
- Design and deliver clear, comprehensive documentation, tutorials, runbooks, and self-service guides that significantly reduce onboarding time and cognitive load.
- Create and lead practical enablement workshops, training sessions, and structured learning paths that drive measurable adoption of platform features, CI/CD tooling, and DevOps principles.
- Identify and systematically remove friction points in the developer journey, including onboarding complexity, pipeline usability, runtime challenges, and documentation gaps.
- Establish and maintain structured feedback loops with development teams to surface pain points and drive continuous improvement of the platform and associated tooling.
- Define, track, and improve enablement outcomes such as time-to-first-deployment, self-service adoption rates, and reduction in support volume.
2. Delivery & Pipeline Management
- Design, build, and maintain secure, highly automated, reusable, and developer-friendly CI/CD pipeline templates (primarily GitHub Actions; experience with GitLab CI or Jenkins is valuable).
- Champion and operationalize GitOps principles from an application-consumer perspective using tools such as Argo CD and Helm.
- Integrate automated security scanning (SAST/DAST), code quality analysis, and compliance gates into delivery pipelines while preserving developer velocity.
- Advise teams on progressive delivery and zero-downtime deployment strategies (Blue/Green, Canary, progressive rollouts) and support rapid, secure rollbacks.
- Continuously refine pipelines and tooling based on developer feedback and operational metrics to improve reliability, speed, and overall developer experience.
3. DevOps Practices, Guidance & Organizational Influence
- Define, document, and actively coach teams on modern DevOps best practices, including version-control strategies (GitFlow or equivalent), automated testing integration, release management, and effective branching workflows.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting support for application runtime issues on Kubernetes, covering resource limits, ingress, configurations, secrets, networking, scaling, and observability.
- Drive adoption of platform standards and best practices across multiple teams through coaching, demonstration of value, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Partner closely with Platform Engineering, Security, Compliance, and product teams to align platform capabilities with real developer needs.
- Convert production incidents and recurring issues into systemic platform improvements rather than isolated fixes.
4. Continuous Improvement & Platform Evolution
- Collect, synthesize, and act on both qualitative feedback and quantitative signals from developers to prioritize platform enhancements.
- Stay current with evolving Kubernetes ecosystem tools, GitOps patterns, developer-experience practices, and security approaches, then bring relevant improvements into the organization.
- Represent the voice of application teams in the long-term evolution of the Internal Developer Platform.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Kubernetes Application Delivery: Deep practical expertise in running, scaling, debugging, and operating applications on Kubernetes, including resource requests/limits, ingress controllers, ConfigMaps, Secrets management, networking, and runtime troubleshooting from an application-developer perspective.
- CI/CD Automation: Proven ability to design and maintain secure, reusable, highly automated pipeline templates. Strong preference for GitHub Actions; solid experience with GitLab CI or Jenkins is acceptable.
- GitOps & Application Packaging: Hands-on experience with GitOps-driven deployment tools (Argo CD or equivalent) and Helm (or similar package management)
from the application-consumer viewpoint.
- Scripting & Automation: Strong proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go for building automation, developer-facing tools, and reusable scripts.
- Version Control Mastery: Expertise in managing complex branching, merging, and collaborative workflows in a high-velocity CI/CD environment.
- Cloud Platforms (Application Perspective): Proficiency using core AWS services from an application developer’s viewpoint.
- Security & Quality Integration: Experience embedding SAST/DAST, code quality, and compliance checks into pipelines, along with knowledge of progressive delivery strategies (Blue/Green, Canary).

- Systems Thinking: Capacity to view and improve the entire developer journey—from commit to production—including the interactions between CI/CD, GitOps, Kubernetes runtime, security gates, and observability.
- Feedback & Continuous Improvement: Skill in systematically collecting, analyzing, and acting on both qualitative feedback and quantitative metrics (pipeline success rates, time-to-onboard, support volume).
- Structured Troubleshooting: Calm, methodical diagnostic ability for production and runtime issues, combined with a bias toward systemic rather than temporary fixes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven comfort working effectively across Platform Engineering, Security, Compliance, and multiple product teams in a matrixed environment.
