The B2B Field Network Engineer is responsible for delivering end-to-end deployment, commissioning, and on-site troubleshooting of corporate routing and connectivity solutions for Airtel Business enterprise clients. This hands-on technical role acts as the primary link between client IT teams and Airtel’s core Network Operations Center (NOC). The ideal candidate ensures the physical and logical integration of enterprise routers, switches, SD-WAN devices, leased lines, and security hardware at corporate sites.
Key Responsibilities1. In office Deployment & Router Configuration
- Install, rack-mount, and commission enterprise-grade routers (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet) at corporate premises.
- Configure routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, Static Routing), IP addressing, VLANs, and NAT based on solution architecture design docs.
- Deploy and integrate SD-WAN appliances, MPLS circuits, internet leased lines (ILL), and primary/backup redundant links.
2. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Perform end-to-end circuit testing, measuring latency, jitter, packet loss, and throughput to meet client SLAs.
- Conduct BER (Bit Error Rate) tests, OTDR trace reviews, and loopback tests on incoming fiber/copper handoffs.
- Coordinate with central NOC teams for circuit activation, route propagation verification, and formal sign-offs.
3. L2/L3 On-Site Troubleshooting
- Provide fast-response on-site incident troubleshooting for corporate network outages, link degradations, and hardware failures.
- Execute firmware upgrades, router replacement (RMA execution), and configuration rollbacks during emergency outages.
- Diagnose physical layer issues, SFPs, console connections, and patch panel patching.
4. Documentation & Client Management
- Complete site survey reports, rack layout diagrams, and network topology maps post-installation.
- Update ticket updates and installation statuses in real time through Airtel's internal field operations app.
- Brief corporate client IT managers on installed solutions and hand over technical demarcation details.
