Job Summary A Data Engineer III –

- Power BI is a seasoned practitioner responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing analytical data models, Power BI semantic layers, and enterprise dashboards that enable data-driven decision making across the organization. This role combines strong SQL and dimensional modeling expertise with modern data engineering practices to transform complex business requirements into scalable analytics solutions.

The engineer partners closely with business stakeholders, analysts, product owners, and data platform teams to deliver trusted, high-performance reporting and dashboard experiences. They build curated analytical datasets, develop reusable semantic models, establish KPI standards, and ensure enterprise reporting solutions are reliable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

Data engineers provide technical leadership for analytics initiatives, mentor junior engineers and analysts, and drive best practices in Power BI development, data modeling, performance optimization, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

(35%) Analytics Data Engineering &

- Modeling

- Design, build, and maintain analytics-ready datasets and data marts supporting reporting and dashboard workloads.
- Develop dimensional models including fact and dimension tables using star and snowflake schemas.
- Build scalable SQL transformations and ETL/ELT processes using Databricks, Azure Data Services, and related technologies.
- Optimize query performance, data refresh processes, and analytical workloads for scalability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with business and analytics teams to translate requirements into robust data models.

(25%) Power BI Development &

- Dashboard Engineering

- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards, scorecards, and self-service reporting solutions.
- Build and manage Power BI semantic models, datasets, DAX calculations, KPIs, measures, and hierarchies.
- Implement row-level security (RLS), data governance controls, and workspace standards.
- Optimize dashboard performance through aggregation strategies, incremental refresh, query tuning, and semantic model optimization.
- Establish visualization standards and reporting best practices across teams.

(15%) Business Analytics &

- Stakeholder Partnership

- Partner with business leaders, analysts,



and product teams to develop actionable analytical solutions.
- Translate business questions into meaningful reporting, metrics, and visualizations.
- Define and standardize enterprise KPIs, metrics, and reporting definitions.
- Support executive reporting and strategic decision-making through data storytelling and insights enablement.

(15%) Data Quality, Governance &

- Security

- Implement controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, and trustworthiness of analytical data assets.
- Support enterprise governance standards, metadata management, lineage, and access controls.
- Monitor dashboard adoption, data quality issues, and reporting reliability.
- Ensure compliance with data classification, retention, and regulatory requirements.

(10%) Mentoring &

- Continuous Improvement

- Mentor junior engineers and analysts on Power BI, SQL, and data modeling best practices.
- Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and dashboard quality assessments.
- Drive adoption of reusable patterns, standards, and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across analytics and reporting platforms.
- Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, India is a requirement of the role.

Mode of Working: This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on-site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for work from home based on business needs and team alignment. Skills And Background You’ll Need

Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field, or equivalent experience is required. A Master's degree or advanced coursework in Analytics, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or related field is preferred.

Required Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience, including:

- Power BI development and dashboard engineering.
- SQL development and analytical data modeling.
- Data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and reporting solutions.
- Business intelligence and analytics delivery.

Preferred Experience

- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure Synapse, or Azure Data Factory.
- Experience in insurance, financial services, or regulated industries.
- Experience designing enterprise KPI frameworks and executive reporting.
- Experience with Power BI deployment pipelines, governance, and administration.
- Exposure to Python, PySpark, or cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Strong expertise in Power BI development, semantic modeling, and dashboard design.
- Advanced SQL skills including performance tuning, query optimization, and data transformations.




- Strong experience with dimensional data modeling, star schemas, and analytical data structures.
- Experience building enterprise reporting and KPI frameworks.
- Understanding of modern data platforms such as Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, Synapse, or Microsoft Fabric.
- Proficiency with DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service administration.
- Experience implementing data governance, security, and row-level security (RLS).
- Strong stakeholder communication and requirements gathering skills. Ability to translate business needs into scalable analytical solutions. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
