Project Brief

The project, “IPD Analysis of Hypothyroidism in Pregnancy: Prevalence, Risk Factors and Maternal and Fetal Outcomes in India,” funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), will undertake an individual participant data analysis to examine the prevalence and determinants of hypothyroidism during pregnancy and its association with maternal and fetal outcomes.

The project involves collaboration and coordination with participating studies and institutions, including harmonisation and management of participant-level data, data analysis, quality assurance and synthesis of findings to generate evidence relevant to maternal health in India.

Job Summary

The Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) will support the PI and research team in the scientific, analytical and operational implementation of the project. The position will provide technical expertise in IPD harmonisation, statistical analysis and interpretation of findings, while also supporting manuscript and grant proposal development, coordination with funders and study partners, and project-related meetings and activities.

Deliverables

The major duties and responsibilities will include:

- Research and analysis support
- Support the PI and research team in the planning, implementation and scientific oversight of project activities.
- Support the harmonisation, management and analysis of individual participant data (IPD) across datasets received from participating studies and collaborating institutions.
- Assist in developing and implementing data harmonisation frameworks, including variable definitions, coding systems, data dictionaries and quality assurance procedures.
- Development of statistical analysis plans aligned with the study objectives and research questions.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics, and regression modelling, as appropriate to the research questions and under the guidance of the PI.
- Use statistical software, including R, to conduct analyses, generate reproducible outputs and produce meaningful data visualisations.
- Develop, maintain and document code scripts for data cleaning, manipulation, harmonisation and statistical analyses.
- Participate in quality control and validation of datasets, analytical procedures and statistical outputs to ensure the accuracy, consistency and reliability of findings.
- Generate, review and interpret tables, figures, statistical outputs and other analytical summaries.




- Contribute to the interpretation of research findings and support the preparation of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, presentations and other research outputs.
- Support literature reviews and evidence synthesis relevant to the project.
- Support the PI in ensuring adherence to study protocols, ethical requirements, data confidentiality and institutional policies governing the management and analysis of participant-level data.
- Support the preparation, revision and submission of manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals, including responding to editorial and reviewer comments as required.
- Support the development and submission of grant proposals, including literature reviews, preparation of technical sections, budgets, timelines and other required application materials.
- Preparing project documents and reports
- Support the PI and research team in preparing technical reports, progress reports, scientific manuscripts, abstracts, presentations and other project outputs.
- Co-ordinate preparation of documentation required by the funder, collaborating institutions and relevant regulatory/ethics bodies.
- Contribute to the development of study protocols, analysis plans, data management documents and other technical project documentation.
- Support preparation of project updates, briefing materials and scientific communication outputs.
- Co-ordination with funders and study partners
- Attend regular funder meetings, provide updates on project progress, timelines, deliverables and emerging technical issues.
- Co-ordinate with participating institutions regarding data sharing, data harmonisation, variable clarification, data queries and resolution of discrepancies.
- Follow up on timelines, deliverables and technical requirements with study partners to ensure timely completion of project activities.
- Support communication with funders regarding project progress, milestones, deliverables and emerging technical issues.
- Participate in and support investigator and partner meetings, including preparation of agendas, presentations, progress updates and meeting materials.
- Events and co-ordination
- Support the organisation and co-ordination of workshops, meetings, training programmes, investigator meetings and other project events.
- Assist with logistical and technical coordination for meetings with funders, study partners and other stakeholders.
- Support co-ordination across the research team to ensure timely implementation of project activities and deliverables.
- Undertake other research, analytical and project coordination responsibilities assigned by the PI, Co-PI, or project leadership.
- Any other activities as delegated by the PI/Co-PI

Education

Essential

- Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Life Sciences, Health Sciences or a related discipline from a recognised university/institution.

Desirable

- PhD or equivalent advanced training in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Life Sciences or a related field

Experience





Essential

- 5 years of work experience.
- Relevant experience in health research, epidemiology, data management, statistical analysis or research coordination.
- Strong understanding of research methods and quantitative data analysis.
- Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Stata or SPSS.
- Positive scientific writing, communication and organisational skills.

Desirable

- Experience with individual participant data (IPD), pooled analyses, multi-site studies or data harmonisation.
- Experience working with large or complex health research datasets.
- Experience co-ordinating with multiple study sites, investigators, funders or research partners.
- Experience in preparing scientific manuscripts, technical reports, funder reports and presentations.
- Experience with maternal and child health, pregnancy-related research or other population health research would be desirable.
- Experience in project management and co-ordination of multi-institutional research projects
