Our Umbergaon facility (Unit II) runs modern tube-making operations — melting, casting, extrusion, pilgering, drawing, annealing, finning and finishing — serving HVAC, medical gas pipeline, plumbing and industrial applications. We invest in current manufacturing technology and in the people who run it, and we manage our operations on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

About the Role

You will run and improve the chemical/materials laboratory day to day — ensuring testing is accurate, methods are sound, instruments are calibrated and results are trustworthy. You'll interpret results against ASTM/EN and customer specs, investigate abnormalities, and support production and quality with reliable data. A good step-up role for a lab professional ready to own methods, instruments and a small lab team.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and supervise chemical and physical testing of raw material, in-process and finished copper tube.
- Ensure test methods, accuracy, calibration and traceability meet ASTM/EN and customer requirements.
- Interpret results against specifications; investigate abnormal/out-of-spec results with the quality team.
- Maintain and calibrate lab instruments; manage AMC and instrument health.
- Guide and check the work of lab technicians.
- Prepare and validate test reports, material certificates and lab MIS.
- Support RCA on material/chemistry-related non-conformities and improvement projects.
- Maintain lab documentation, standards and safety compliance.

Educational Qualification B.Sc / M.Sc / Diploma in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering.

Experience

4–7 years in a chemical / materials / metallurgical laboratory, including method and instrument responsibility.
