Role Description The Business Head – Utility Solar and BESS is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Surat, responsible for driving the company’s utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) business. This role oversees end-to-end business operations including market development, project pipeline generation, strategic partnerships, and P&L; management for utility solar and storage projects.

The Business

Head leads cross-functional teams in project evaluation, bidding, contract negotiation, and execution, ensuring technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements are met.



The position involves close collaboration with engineering, finance, supply chain, and field teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and aligned with safety and quality standards. The role also includes monitoring industry trends, engaging with policy and regulatory stakeholders, and shaping long-term growth strategies for the utility solar and BESS vertical.

Qualifications

- Strong experience in utility-scale solar and battery energy storage, including project development, EPC or IPP business models, and end-to-end lifecycle management.
- Proven track record in business leadership, P&L; ownership, strategic planning, and scaling operations in the renewable energy or power sector.
- Solid understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, grid integration, and commercial structures such as PPAs, tenders, and competitive bidding.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, manage cross-functional stakeholders, and drive collaboration with partners, clients, and government bodies.
- Solid analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate project risks, financial models, and contractual terms.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, including experience representing the business with investors, regulators, and key customers.
- Relevant academic background such as an engineering degree (electrical, mechanical, renewable energy) or equivalent; a management qualification (MBA or similar) is an advantage.
