Divisional Manager / Manager EV Vehicle Integration & Product Development (M&HCV;)

Experience Required: 12–18+ years in Automotive/EV R&D;, including 5+ years in EV vehicle integration for M&HCV; platforms

B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Automobile Engineering); MBA/PG in relevant discipline preferred

Role Purpose

Lead the vehicle integration, localization, and end-to-end product development of electric Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV;) platforms — tractor-trailers, mining tippers, and buses — spanning battery/powertrain sizing, BMS validation, homologation, and battery-swapping infrastructure integration. Own these platforms from concept architecture through to market launch, working across domestic and global R&D; teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-competitive electric commercial vehicles.

Critical Focus Areas The three areas below are the most critical priorities of this role. Performance in this position will be evaluated primarily against these, ahead of the broader supporting responsibilities listed further below.

1. Product Development

Own the end-to-end EV product development lifecycle for M&HCV; platforms — With overseas partner – finalize the vehicle level HV electrical system & mechanical system architecture definition, product design basis Indian market requirement (Medium & Heavy Duty Vehicles – GVW > 18T), battery and motor sizing, DVP & CTR test-plan creation, DFMEA, benchmarking, and program management from concept through Start of Production (SOP) — ensuring technical specifications, cost, and timelines are met.

2. Localization

Drive the localization roadmap (targeting 50%+ localization) for battery packs, BMS, motors, controllers, and other high-voltage systems. Manage technical synergy between domestic and global/JV R&D; centers (e.g., India–China) for technology transfer and indigenization, while qualifying local suppliers in coordination with sourcing/SQA and holding performance, safety,



and homologation standards constant.

3. Vehicle Integration

Lead complete vehicle-level system integration — digital vehicle composition, assembly, CKD, DMU review, prototyping, and thermal management — including integration of battery-swapping infrastructure into the vehicle architecture. Own CAN-based vehicle communication systems and telematics integration and ensure high-voltage safety protocols meet both global benchmarks and Indian homologation standards.

Key Responsibilities

A. Product Development & Program Management

- Define vehicle-level architecture and technical specifications for new EV platforms (trucks, tippers, tractors).
- Lead vehicle product definition, life cycle management, components enhancement & DVP, battery and motor sizing decisions based on application, payload, and range requirements.
- Create and own Test Plans (DVP & CTR), DFMEA, and RFI/RFQ/SOR documentation.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking.
- Manage end-to-end product development cycles, ensuring adherence to timelines, cost, and quality targets.

B. Localization

- Build and execute the component/system localization roadmap for vehicle level platform, high-voltage battery, motor, and controller systems.
- Coordinate with global R&D; and technology-partner teams (e.g., overseas JV centers) on technology transfer and indigenization.
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify local suppliers/vendors in partnership with Sourcing and SQA teams.
- Balance localization cost targets against performance, durability, and homologation compliance.

C. Vehicle Integration

- Lead system integration of EV platforms including HV architecture, battery-swapping station integration, and thermal management.
- Conduct Digital Vehicle Composition, Packaging,



and DMU (Digital Mock-Up) reviews.
- Own vehicle communication systems design (CAN-based protocols) and telematics integration.
- Ensure vehicle-level and high-voltage safety systems meet global benchmarks and Indian homologation standards.

D. Battery, Powertrain & Regulatory Compliance

- Oversee cell/battery pack testing and BMS functionality validation (SOC/SOH).
- Ensure compliance with CMVR homologation and AIS 156 / AIS 093 / AIS 052 and ISO 26262 standards.
- Apply DFSS methodology across design and validation processes.
- Support end to end component & vehicle level homologation

E. Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management

- Lead global, cross-functional R&D; teams spanning domestic and international centers.
- Liaise with regulatory and certification bodies (e.g., ARAI) for homologation approvals.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth product launch.

Qualifications & Experience

- B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering; MBA or PG qualification in a relevant discipline is an advantage.
- 12–18+ years of experience in Automotive/EV R&D;, with substantial exposure to the M&HCV; segment (trucks, tippers, tractors). Preferred EV segment
- Demonstrated track record in EV vehicle integration, battery/powertrain systems, and platform localization.
- Experience collaborating with global or overseas R&D;/JV teams (technology transfer, joint development) is strongly preferred.

Technical:

HV architecture & safety, BMS/SOC-SOH validation, battery and motor sizing, CAN-based vehicle communication protocols, thermal management, homologation standards (CMVR/AIS/ISO 26262).

CATIA V5, Pro/E (Creo), MATLAB/Simulink, Team Center PLM, SAP – MM/PP

Leadership:

Cross-functional and cross-geography team leadership, program management, vendor and technology-partner coordination.

Soft Skills:

Stakeholder management, structured problem-solving (DFMEA/8D), and transparent technical communication across global teams.
