A key initiative is MOBIUS, a high-altitude long-endurance semi-rigid hydrogen airship operating between 20 and 30 kilometers above Earth for communication, surveillance, remote sensing, earth observation, and commercial payload delivery applications.
Role Description This is a full time, on-site Aerospace Engineer role based in Chennai.
The Aerospace
Engineer will contribute to the design, analysis, and development of high-altitude platforms such as the MOBIUS airship, focusing on aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, and systems integration. Daily responsibilities include performing simulations and calculations, preparing design documentation, collaborating with cross-functional teams on requirements and system architecture, and supporting prototype build, testing, and validation activities. The role also involves troubleshooting technical issues, refining designs based on test data,
ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and providing clear technical reports and presentations to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong knowledge of Aerodynamics and core Aerospace Engineering principles.
- Candidates should possess skills in Systems Engineering, including requirements definition, system architecture, and integration.
- Candidates should possess experience with aircraft-related design, analysis, or testing.
- Candidates should possess exposure to spacecraft or high-altitude platform technologies and associated subsystems.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering tools (e.g., CAD, CFD, FEA, modeling and simulation software).
- Ability to interpret technical data, apply engineering standards, and document findings clearly.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills in multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience with hydrogen systems, airships, or unmanned aerial vehicles is an advantage.
- Familiarity with safety, reliability, and regulatory considerations for aerospace systems is beneficial.
