We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical E-commerce Accountant to manage the complex financial landscape of our online sales channels. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reconciling high-volume transactions from multiple marketplaces (such as Amazon, Flipkart, and Nykaa) and ensuring that our financial records accurately reflect our digital commerce operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketplace Reconciliation
Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of sales reports from various e-commerce platforms against bank statements.
Track and reconcile Marketplace Commissions, shipping fees, and other service charges (Fixed fees, pick-and-pack fees).
Monitor and manage Payment Gateway settlements (e.g., Razorpay, PayU) to ensure all captured payments are credited.
- Returns & Claims Management
Reconcile sales returns (RTO and Customer Returns) against inventory and credit notes.
File and track reimbursement claims for lost, damaged, or wrongly returned items on marketplace panels.
Monitor "Safety Reclaim" (SPF) cases to recover losses from platform-related errors.
- Taxation & Compliance
Prepare and file monthly GST returns (GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B) specifically accounting for B2B vs. B2C e-commerce sales.
Ensure compliance with TCS (Tax Collected at Source) and TDS (Tax Deducted at Source)
provisions under the GST Act for e-commerce operators.
Maintain documentation for interstate stock transfers and e-way bill reconciliations.
- Inventory & Costing
Coordinate with the warehouse team to reconcile physical stock with digital inventory levels.
Analyze Landing Cost of products and monitor gross margins across different SKUs and platforms.
Audit promotional discounts and coupon usage to ensure they align with the marketing budget.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance (Inter-CA or M.Com preferred).
Experience: 2–4 years in accounting, with at least 1 year specifically in the e-commerce sector.
Technical Proficiency
Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and complex formulas are essential).
Experience with accounting software like Tally Prime or Zoho Books.
Familiarity with e-commerce ERPs or reconciliation tools (e.g., Unicommerce, Vinculum, or Browntape).
Analytical Mindset: Ability to spot discrepancies in large datasets and resolve payment leakages.
Performance Indicators
Accuracy and timeliness of marketplace reconciliations.
Reduction in "unclaimed" or "lost" inventory reimbursements.
