As a Software Development Engineer II, you'll tackle complex technical challenges in designing and scaling personal loan products in India and groundbreaking credit line offerings in Brazil.

Key job responsibilities
. Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions for credit and lending products, actively participating in the full software development lifecycle including scoping, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance
. Contribute to code reviews providing meaningful feedback to peers, while ensuring operational excellence and identifying root causes of issues to implement permanent fixes
. Solve complex technical problems in payment systems by bringing clarity to ambiguous requirements and designing simple, elegant solutions that balance customer needs with technical constraints
. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across India and Brazil to deliver features for Personal Loans and credit line products, working backwards from customer needs to ensure the right solutions are built

Document system architecture, operations, and design decisions while actively training new team members on how software is constructed, tested, and integrated into the broader payments ecosystem

A day in the life
Your day starts with design reviews where you collaborate with engineers to evaluate technical approaches for new credit features. You'll spend time coding full-stack solutions, writing clean and maintainable software that handles financial transactions securely. Throughout the day, you engage in operational excellence activities, monitoring system health, responding to operational events, and implementing improvements that enhance reliability. You participate in inclusive technical discussions, mentor teammates through code reviews, and balance new feature development with operational priorities to ensure customers have seamless access to lending products.

About the team
Amazon Pay's credit and lending team operates at the intersection of payments and financial innovation, managing multiple businesses across India and Brazil. In India, the team independently owns the Personal Loans product on Amazon Pay, while simultaneously pioneering a credit line product in Brazil that enables customers to shop with flexible payment options.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
