Placement Officer

Location: Bengaluru

Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the disability sector

About the Role

We are looking for a Placement Officer / Placement Coordinator to lead and strengthen the transition of trainees with intellectual and developmental disabilities from vocational training to internships and employment. The role will involve candidate assessment, job development, employer engagement, placement coordination, workplace support, and post-placement follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate with trainers to assess the exit readiness and job readiness of trainees using standardized assessment tools and checklists.
- Work closely with the Project Lead – Livelihood & Employment to identify, assess, and prepare work-ready candidates.
- Ensure completion of employability skills, workplace readiness, and POSH training before deployment for internships or employment.
- Manage the end-to-end placement process, including job analysis, candidate profiling, job matching, interview coordination, placement, and post-placement follow-up.
- Conduct regular interactions with parents and caregivers, including quarterly progress discussions, and ensure appropriate documentation and formal sign-offs.
- Provide or coordinate in office job coaching and workplace support until the trainee achieves functional independence and stability at the workplace.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, placement agencies, and other employment partners.
- Drive job development initiatives and identify new employment and internship opportunities across sectors suitable for persons with disabilities.




- Monitor and track internship, placement, employment, and retention outcomes across all programme locations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate databases, placement records, employer records, and tracking systems.
- Prepare periodic reports and updates for leadership on placements, employment outcomes, challenges, trends, and support requirements.
- Contribute to strengthening Diya Foundation's overall livelihood and employment ecosystem and inclusive employment practices.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Rehabilitation, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in the disability sector, preferably involving vocational training, employability, job placement, or supported employment.
- Experience working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be preferred.
- Prior experience in employer engagement, job development, placement coordination, or workplace support.
- Strong communication, coordination, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with trainees, families, trainers, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to workplaces and partner organizations as required.
