We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Transformer Design Engineer with strong expertise in SMPS Transformer design and magnetic components.

*Qualification:* B.E / B.Tech in EEE (Electrical and Electronics Engineering)

*Experience Required:* 1-5 Years in Transformer / Magnetics Design

Job Location: chennai

Key Responsibilities:

1. SMPS Transformer Design & Calculations:

- Design and develop High Frequency SMPS Transformers (Flyback, Forward, Push-Pull, LLC)

- Perform electrical calculations for turns ratio, inductance, leakage inductance, flux density, core loss & copper loss

- Prepare complete design documents and calculation sheets

2. Core Selection & Magnetics:

- Selection of suitable Ferrite Cores (EE, ETD, EER, PQ, RM, Toroidal) based on power and frequency

- Experience in core material selection (N87, N97, PC40, PC95, etc.)

- Understanding of saturation, skin effect, proximity effect

3. Winding Design & Construction:

- Design of primary, secondary, and auxiliary windings

- Calculation of wire size (SWG/AWG), number of strands, Litz wire selection

- Interleaving techniques to reduce leakage inductance

4.



Insulation & Safety:

- Design insulation system as per IEC / UL standards

- Selection of insulation tapes, bobbin, varnish, creepage and clearance as per safety norms

- Hi-Pot and thermal considerations

5. Bobbin & Mechanical Design:

- Selection of Bobbins (Vertical/Horizontal) and mechanical fit

- Coordination with mechanical team for housing and assembly

6. Testing & Validation:

- Prototype building and testing with LCR meter, B-H analyzer, Hi-Pot tester

- Failure analysis and design optimization for efficiency and cost

Required Skills:

- Robust knowledge of Magnetics Calculations and Transformer Design Formulas

- Expertise in Ferrite Core Selection, Winding Design, Bobbins

- Knowledge of SMPS Topologies

- Familiar with design tools - Excel calculations, Magnetics Designer / similar tool

- Knowledge of EMI/EMC basics is an added advantage

Salary: As per industry standard

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
