Role Overview

The General Manager – HR & Administration will lead the HR and administrative functions for a fashion organization, supporting both corporate offices and manufacturing units. The role focuses on building a high-performance workforce, managing large-scale manpower (including factory workers), ensuring statutory compliance, and fostering a culture aligned with creativity, speed, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. HR Strategy & Business Partnering

Develop HR strategies aligned with seasonal business cycles and production demands

Partner with leadership, merchandising, and production teams to support business growth

Drive organizational culture balancing creativity (design teams) and efficiency (manufacturing units)

2. Talent Acquisition (Retail + Factory + Corporate)

Lead hiring across design, merchandising, sourcing, retail, and factory workforce

Manage bulk hiring for production units and contract labour

Build strong talent pipelines for niche roles (designers, pattern masters, quality controllers)

3. Workforce Planning & Industrial Relations

Manage large blue-collar workforce in textile units

Handle union interactions (if applicable) and maintain harmonious industrial relations

Ensure manpower availability during peak production seasons

4. Performance Management & Productivity

Implement KPIs linked to production efficiency, quality, and delivery timelines

Drive performance appraisal systems across retail stores, corporate teams, and factories

Improve worker productivity through engagement and incentive programs

5. Learning & Development

Design training programs for factory workers (skills, safety, compliance)

Develop leadership programs for retail managers and supervisors

Support upskilling in new textile technologies and fashion trends

6. Compensation & Benefits

Manage wage structures,



including compliance with minimum wages, overtime, and statutory norms

Design incentive schemes for production and retail performance

Benchmark compensation with industry standards

7. Statutory Compliance (Critical for Textile Sector)

Ensure compliance with labour laws such as PF, ESI, Factory Act, Shops & Establishment Act

Handle audits, inspections, and certifications

Maintain proper documentation for contract labour and third-party vendors

8. Administration & Facility Management

Oversee factory administration, security, transport, canteen, and hostel facilities (if applicable)

Manage multiple locations including warehouses, retail outlets, and production units

Ensure workplace safety, hygiene, and compliance with environmental norms

9. Employee Engagement & Culture

Drive engagement initiatives across diverse workforce (designers to factory workers)

Promote inclusive and safe work environment, especially in labour-intensive units

Handle grievance redressed effectively

10. Leadership & Team Management

Lead HR teams across corporate office, retail, and manufacturing units

Drive digitization of HR processes (HRMS, attendance systems, payroll automation)

Build a robust second line of leadership

Qualifications & Experience

MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or related field

15-25 years of experience, preferably in fashion, apparel, textile, or retail industry

Strong exposure to factory HR and industrial relations

Experience managing multi-location workforce

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong industrial relations and labour law expertise

Understanding of textile manufacturing and retail operations

High adaptability to seasonal and fast-paced business cycles

Stakeholder management across creative and operational teams

Conflict resolution and negotiation skills

Pay: Up to ₹100,000.00 per month
