Job Overview

Syrus Hospital, Kushalnagar, is looking for a qualified Microbiologist to support the hospital laboratory in microbiological testing, quality practices, reporting, and infection-control support.

The candidate should have relevant experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory environment and a strong understanding of microbiology procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform and supervise routine microbiological investigations.
- Handle clinical specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Perform culture, sensitivity, staining, and other relevant microbiological tests.
- Ensure accurate processing, documentation, and reporting of laboratory results.
- Monitor specimen collection, identification, storage, and processing.
- Maintain laboratory records, registers, and quality documentation.
- Follow standard laboratory procedures and quality-control practices.
- Monitor quality-control results and identify deviations.
- Coordinate with clinicians and other departments regarding laboratory findings when required.
- Support infection prevention and hospital infection-control activities.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of laboratory waste.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and monitor routine maintenance requirements.
- Monitor availability of reagents, consumables, and other laboratory supplies.
- Participate in internal audits, quality assessments,



and accreditation-related activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and laboratory information.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and applicable laboratory standards.
- Support laboratory training and orientation activities as required.

Eligibility & Requirements

- M.Sc. Microbiology / Medical Microbiology or relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
- Relevant professional experience in clinical microbiology or hospital laboratory operations.
- Experience in a multispecialty hospital laboratory will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of microbiological testing and laboratory procedures.
- Familiarity with quality-control practices and laboratory documentation.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and laboratory information system experience will be an advantage.
- Strong attention to accuracy, documentation, and patient-safety practices.
