Tiruppur

Company Description

Toram Creators Private Limited is a knitwear and apparel manufacturer based in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. Founded in 2003, we operate across multiple production units with end-to-end capabilities spanning product development, sampling, quality control, and finishing.

We serve a strong portfolio of Export and domestic retail brands including Walmart, GAP, and Fruit of the Loom delivering across inner garments, knitwear, and lifestyle apparel categories. Our facilities are certified for international social and ethical compliance — SEDEX, WRAP, BCI, OEKO-TEX, and Disney FAMA — meeting the audit standards expected by structured retail buyers.

We are in an active phase of professional and organisational growth, building systems, strengthening our team, and investing in the people and processes that will define the next chapter of Toram.

Role Description

IE and Production Executive is responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are consistently met for a factory with 250 machine capacity. This full-time, on-site role is based in Tiruppur and involves supervising production lines, managing staffing and shift planning, and coordinating with design, merchandising, and sourcing teams to align factory output with customer requirements. The role includes monitoring workflow, optimizing resource utilization, enforcing safety and compliance procedures, and resolving operational issues to minimize downtime and waste. The role will track performance metrics, implement process improvements, and maintain clear documentation and reporting for management.

Regular communication with internal stakeholders and occasional interaction with clients or auditors is expected to support transparency and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on, floor-level role. The person in this position will personally conduct time studies, set SMVs, balance lines, and drive daily production follow-up. This is not a role with a team of IEs reporting to you — you are the IE. Candidates looking for a purely supervisory position are not the right fit for this role at this stage

Qualifications

- 4–7 years of hands-on Industrial Engineering experience on the garment factory floor — personally conducting time studies, GSD-based SMV setting, line balancing, method study, and bottleneck analysis. Not managing an IE team — doing the IE work directly.
- Comfortable working on the production floor daily — tracking input vs output, following up with supervisors and operators, and driving efficiency through direct observation and intervention rather than through reports alone.
- Strong production planning and execution skills: ability to build line plans, set daily and monthly targets, monitor input vs output, and create contingency plans when production scenarios go off-track.
- Solid Industrial Engineering background — hands-on experience with GSD-based SMV setting, method study, motion analysis, line balancing, bottleneck elimination, and Man-Machine Ratio (MMR) optimisation.

Ability to use IE tools to drive measurable productivity improvement and cost-per-minute reduction across the factory floor.
- Experience in a small-to-mid size garment unit (200–400 machines) is strongly preferred; candidates from very large factories with fully staffed IE departments may find the hands-on nature of this role a significant adjustment.
- Sound understanding of quality management systems across production stages, with experience facilitating buyer audits and statutory inspections and closing non-conformances effectively.
- Working knowledge of machinery maintenance practices, preventive maintenance planning, and basic infrastructure management to minimise machine downtime and operational disruptions.
- Financial accountability experience — managing factory budgets, tracking budget vs actuals, controlling overhead expenditure, and preparing operational P&L; and MIS reports for management review.
- Familiarity with statutory and labour law compliance relevant to a manufacturing unit, including coordination with government and regulatory authorities.
- Experience handling industrial relations — maintaining a harmonious shop-floor environment and resolving worker grievances and escalations with fairness and firmness.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and ERP systems for production tracking, reporting, and data management.
- Good communication skills in Tamil and English; Hindi is an added advantage given the diverse workforce in the Tirupur cluster.
- Any graduation; a diploma or degree in Textile Technology, Apparel Production, Fashion Technology, or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
