Overview

We are seeking an experienced DBA / Senior DBA to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, managing, and maintaining high-availability database systems, with a strong focus on MariaDB environments, particularly MariaDB with Galera Cluster. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in database architecture, replication, clustering, performance tuning, and high-availability setups, along with hands-on experience in developing complex database applications, triggers, and stored procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Database & Cluster Management: Design, develop, and maintain databases and database applications using MariaDB. Deploy, manage, and maintain MariaDB with Galera Cluster to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
- Performance Monitoring & Tuning: Monitor and optimize MariaDB, ProxySQL, and Galera Cluster performance, including node synchronization and overall cluster health. Optimize performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and server configuration.
- High Availability & Failover: Configure and manage database replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms.
- Database Development: Develop efficient database triggers and stored procedures. Design and maintain database schemas that effectively support business processes.
- Troubleshooting & Reliability: Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, cluster inconsistencies, and replication failures. Ensure data integrity, security, and high availability of production databases.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement backups based on a GFS strategy, along with disaster recovery and database recovery processes.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance to team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable database solutions.

Requirements

- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Database Experience:



5–8+ years of experience in MariaDB/MySQL database administration with hands-on experience managing MariaDB with Galera Cluster in production environments.
- Architecture & Tuning: Strong understanding of database clustering, replication, and high-availability architectures, alongside query optimization, performance tuning, and database troubleshooting.
- Development Skills: Strong expertise in writing database triggers and stored procedures.
- Production Operations: Experience managing large-scale databases, mission-critical systems, backup strategies, monitoring tools, and disaster recovery processes.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced Clustering & Cloud: Experience with Percona XtraDB Cluster or similar clustering technologies, cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure, etc.), and managing environments with 100+ MariaDB database instances.
- Multi-Database Ecosystem: Familiarity with NoSQL (MongoDB), PostgreSQL, Graph databases (Neptune, OrientDB, etc.), Vector databases (FAISS, Chroma, Pinecone, Weaviate, etc.), PrestoDB, Apache Pinot, and RocksDB.
- Replication & DR Expertise: Expertise in MySQL replication setup (Group Replication, GTID, troubleshooting), setting up HA/DR architectures, conducting DR drills, and executing data migration activities.
- Data Engineering & Monitoring: Experience with ETL pipelines, data warehousing solutions, and database monitoring tools (Percona Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
- Infrastructure & Automation: Working knowledge of Linux file systems, LVM, cloud environments, virtualization technologies, and expertise in OS-level tuning and automating routine tasks using Shell / Perl scripting.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, capable of working under pressure, and skilled at translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
