Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Data Engineer with 5–7 years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance data solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, PySpark, ETL/ELT development, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.

In this role, you will design and build enterprise-grade batch and real-time data pipelines, develop cloud-native data solutions, and ensure reliable data delivery for analytics, reporting, and business applications. You will work extensively with GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow), Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.

The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of data warehouse architecture, data modeling, batch and streaming data processing, pipeline optimization, and data quality. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business SMEs, Engineering teams, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and effective data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and PySpark.

- Build and optimize cloud-native data engineering solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

- Develop efficient SQL queries, transformation logic, and data models using BigQuery.

- Design, develop, and maintain workflow orchestration pipelines using Cloud Composer and Apache Airflow.

- Develop, optimize,



and troubleshoot Spark applications running on Google Dataproc.

- Build batch and real-time data ingestion pipelines using Google Pub/Sub and other GCP services.

- Work with Google Cloud Storage for data ingestion, storage, processing, and data lake solutions.

- Ensure data quality through validation, reconciliation, exception handling, logging, and monitoring.

- Optimize pipeline performance, query execution, Spark jobs, and data processing workflows.

- Develop reusable frameworks, utilities, and common components to improve engineering productivity and consistency.

- Support data migration and modernization initiatives involving cloud-based data platforms.

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to coding standards, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement.

- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data products.

- Create and maintain technical documentation for data pipelines, architecture, workflows, and operational processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- 5–7 years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.

- Strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, and PySpark.





- Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade ETL/ELT data pipelines.

- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-based data engineering solutions.

- Strong experience with BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow), Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.

- Experience with both batch and streaming data processing.

- Strong understanding of Data Warehouse and Data Lake concepts and architecture.

- Knowledge of Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Fact and Dimension Modeling, and Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD).

- Understanding of data partitioning, clustering, and pipeline performance optimization.

- Experience implementing data validation, reconciliation, logging, monitoring, and exception handling.

- Working knowledge of Git/GitHub and CI/CD concepts.

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with enterprise-scale cloud migration, reusable data engineering frameworks, data governance, and data quality practices will be an advantage. Knowledge of additional GCP services such as Dataflow, Bigtable, Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, AlloyDB, and Cloud Scheduler is desirable. Experience with Apache Beam, dbt, Spark/Scala, Hadoop, Docker, or AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot will also be preferred.
