Sr Material Controller

To ensure uninterrupted availability of materials for SMT production by effectively managing material planning, inventory, line feeding, material movement, and coordination with suppliers, warehouse, procurement, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and control material requirements for SMT production lines based on production schedules and demand.
- Ensure timely availability of PCB, components, reels, consumables, solder paste, and other SMT materials at the production line.
- Monitor material shortages, excess inventory, ageing, and critical components and take timely corrective action.
- Coordinate with Planning, Procurement, Stores, Production, Quality, and Suppliers to resolve material-related issues.
- Prepare and monitor daily/weekly material shortage reports and ensure closure of shortages within agreed timelines.
- Ensure proper line feeding and material replenishment as per production requirements.
- Track inventory accuracy through ERP/SAP transactions, physical verification, cycle counting, and reconciliation.
- Control FIFO/FEFO and ensure proper storage and handling of electronic components.
- Monitor MOQ, lead time, safety stock, minimum/maximum inventory levels, and consumption trends.
- Coordinate with procurement and suppliers for urgent/shortage materials and expediting.




- Ensure proper handling of MSL-sensitive components, ESD-sensitive materials, and temperature/humidity-controlled materials wherever applicable.
- Monitor and control slow-moving, non-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory.
- Support NPI/recent product launches by ensuring material readiness as per project timelines.
- Coordinate with Production and Planning teams during line changeovers and model changeovers to ensure material availability.
- Maintain accurate material records and ensure timely system transactions for GRN, issue, return, transfer, and consumption.
- Drive initiatives to reduce material shortages, line stoppages, inventory holding, and material wastage.
- Participate in daily production/material review meetings and provide status on critical materials.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, 5S, ESD, safety, and material-control processes.
