Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Production Support Engineer to support critical payment processing applications and operational systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in production support, payments operations, incident management, monitoring, and troubleshooting within a financial services environment. This role requires supporting applications during Australian business hours from an offshore location and ensuring high availability, operational stability, and timely resolution of production issues.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor, support, and maintain business-critical payment applications and production systems.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, service disruptions, and performance-related issues.
- Perform log analysis, system monitoring, and alert management using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Manage and support batch processing workflows and job scheduling activities.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and facilitate incident reviews using structured methodologies.
- Execute change management activities and support problem management initiatives.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Support file processing activities, data transfers, encryption, and settlement operations.
- Ensure operational compliance with organizational and industry standards.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5 to 6 years of experience in Production Support / Operations Engineering, preferably within the Payments or Financial Services domain.
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server Administration, including:
- Windows Services
- Scheduled Tasks
- Event Log Analysis
- Command Prompt and PowerShell Scripting

- Good understanding of Payments Processing, including:

- Visa
- Mastercard




- eftpos Acquiring Flows
- Interchange Processing
- Settlement Processes

- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as:

- Splunk
- SCOM
- Similar enterprise monitoring platforms

- Expertise in alert configuration, monitoring, and log analysis.
- Strong experience with Control-M or equivalent enterprise batch scheduling tools.
- Solid SQL knowledge with experience in:

- Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL)
- Oracle Database
- Production troubleshooting and performance optimization

- Experience handling:

- Flat Files
- Delimited Files
- Scheme File Formats
- PGP Encryption
- Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)

- Proven experience conducting:

- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- 5 Whys Analysis
- Timeline Reconstruction
- Blameless Post-Mortems

- Strong understanding of ITIL/ITSM practices, including:

- Incident Management
- Change Management
- Problem Management

- Experience with ticketing platforms such as BMC Helix or ServiceNow.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with AWS S3 and cloud-based file delivery pipelines.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation for operational efficiencies.
- Understanding of PCI-DSS compliance and security controls in payment environments.
- Experience in Disaster Recovery (DR) Planning, Testing, and Execution.
- Hands-on experience with SAP BODS Designer, including:
- Reading and troubleshooting dataflows
- Modifying workflows and jobs
- Supporting BODS repositories and data integration processes
