Role & responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of design engineers and drafters involved in pressure vessel and process equipment design.
- Design pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, separators, storage tanks, process piping and skid-mounted process equipment.
- Perform mechanical design calculations in accordance with ASME Section VIII Div. 1 & 2, TEMA, API 650, API 620, EN 13445, and other applicable codes.
- Review GA drawings, fabrication drawings, nozzle load calculations, support designs, and fabrication details.
- Conduct design verification, stress analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA) where required.
- Coordinate with process, piping, instrumentation, electrical, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review customer specifications and ensure design compliance with project requirements.
- Support fabrication activities by resolving technical queries and approving engineering changes.
- Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and design reviews.
- Develop and improve engineering standards, design procedures, and quality documentation.
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering documents while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree is an advantage).
- 8-10 years of experience in pressure vessel and static equipment design.
- Minimum 24 years in a leadership or team management role.
- Strong knowledge of:
- ASME Section VIII Div.1 & Div.2
- TEMA Standards
- API 650, API 620
- EN 13445+PED
- ASME B31.3 (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with pressure vessel design software such as PV Elite, Compress, Codeware, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Familiarity with FEA software such as ANSYS is desirable.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding, NDT, material selection, and manufacturing practices.
- Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience working with EPC companies, OEMs, or process equipment manufacturers is preferred.
