Role: Senior Software Engineer

Exp: 6 - 15 Years of Exp

Location: Siruseri, Chennai

Responsibilities:

- Contribute to complex, business-critical agile software projects within the Starlight ecosystem
- Design and implement modern reference data platforms, ensuring scalability, resilience, and long-term maintainability
- Develop high-quality code for distributed, high-availability and high-performance systems
- Apply and actively promote SIX DevOps principles, taking full ownership across the software lifecycle (build, run, improve)
- Drive the transition towards modern, containerized architectures (cloud-ready / microservices-based)
- Work with and evolve a modern technology stack including:
- Java EE / modern Java frameworks
- Messaging & streaming (JMS, Kafka)
- Databases (Oracle, RocksDB, Neo4j)
- Observability (Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Translate business requirements into robust, production-ready solutions
- Ensure stable application operations, including monitoring, incident handling, and problem management
- Contribute to technology strategy, including evaluation and introduction of recent tools and frameworks
- Support technical hiring by conducting interviews and assessing candidates.

What You Bring

- Strong academic background in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience




- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer (L5 level) in complex, distributed environments
- Deep expertise in:
- Java (backend-centric, enterprise-grade systems)
- Distributed system design and integration patterns
- Relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and production ownership (Saltstack/Jinja, Jenkins, GitLab)
- Solid understanding of:
- Containerization (Docker/Podman, Kubernetes / OpenShift)
- Event-driven architectures (Kafka or similar)
- Observability and monitoring concepts
- Experience working in mission-critical, high-availability environments
- Strong Linux expertise at LPIC-3 level (or equivalent experience)
- Strong engineering mindset with focus on code quality, performance, and reliability
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a cross-functional agile team
- Excellent analytical skills and solution-oriented thinking
- Strong communication skills in English

Nice to Have

Finance domain knowledge is a strong plus, particularly in the following areas:

- Reference data structures
- Listings and pricing data (market data distribution)
- SWIFT messaging standards and integration
- Corporate actions processing and workflows
