Product Manager Platform Integrations
Experience: 10 to 12 Years
About the Role
We are looking for a Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of a next-generation Integration Platform. This is a platform product role where you will define the product vision, write product specifications, and drive commercial success.
This is NOT a delivery-focused Product Owner role. You will be expected to identify market opportunities, make product decisions, influence engineering teams, and own the business outcomes of the platform. Applications focused primarily on Agile delivery management, backlog administration, sprint ceremonies, or Product Owner responsibilities without platform product ownership experience will not be considered.
The ideal candidate has successfully built and managed API, integration, or developer platforms that serve both internal engineering teams and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the product vision, roadmap, and execution of the Integration Platform.
- Define product strategy for APIs, connectors, webhooks, and event-driven platform capabilities.
- Conduct customer discovery and translate business requirements into detailed product specifications and roadmaps.
- Partner with Engineering, Architecture, UX, Sales, Customer Success, and Partner teams to deliver platform capabilities.
- Drive adoption of shared platform components across multiple engineering teams through influence and collaboration.
- Lead build-versus-buy evaluations by assessing functionality, scalability, commercial impact,
and long-term operating costs.
- Define pricing, packaging, licensing, and usage models for platform capabilities.
- Ensure platform compliance with security, privacy, GDPR, and data residency requirements.
- Monitor platform adoption, customer usage, business outcomes, and product success metrics.
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen by balancing customer value, engineering effort, and business objectives.
- Influence stakeholders across cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Apply analytical thinking and data-driven decision making to prioritize product investments.
- Communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear product strategies.
Primary Skills
Candidates must have demonstrable experience in most of the following:
- Product ownership of an Integration Platform, API Platform, Connector Marketplace, Embedded iPaaS solution, Partner Integration Platform, or Webhook Platform.
- Experience building products around:
- Public APIs
- Webhooks
- OAuth authentication
- Multi-tenant architectures
- Event-driven integrations
- Strong understanding of:
- Rate limiting
- Retry mechanisms
- Payload schemas
- API versioning
- Event streaming
- Third-party UI embedding
- Experience leading build-versus-buy vendor evaluations with commercial cost modelling rather than feature comparison alone.
- Proven success influencing multiple engineering teams to adopt common platform capabilities without direct reporting authority.
- Experience defining product pricing, packaging, usage-based licensing, or entitlement models.
- Understanding of GDPR, PII handling, data residency, and third-party processor considerations.
- Robust technical aptitude with the ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams without being hands-on in coding.
Secondary Skills
- Experience in CCaaS, CPaaS, Contact Center, Customer Experience, or Telephony platforms.
- Hands-on exposure to platforms such as Workato, Zapier, Tray.io, Paragon, Merge, or similar integration technologies.
- Experience designing API documentation and developer experience.
- Experience managing partner ecosystems or developer programs.
Screening Questions (Mandatory)
Please answer the following in your application:
1. Describe an integration or API platform that you personally owned.
- What capabilities were available for customers to configure themselves?
- What still required engineering involvement?
2. You own a shared platform component, but three engineering teams have competing priorities and do not report to you.
- How would you secure adoption from the second engineering team?
