This role serves as an in-house legal generalist with primary responsibility for all legal matters supporting a shared services company in India. The role will provide legal guidance primarily on workforce-related issues, general corporate matters, litigation, and internal investigations; coordinate closely with U.S.-based legal colleagues on cross border issues; and provide other legal support as needs arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on Indian corporate and labor and employment matters, including employee relations issues, general knowledge of social security and employment-related taxes, commercial contracts, regulatory and investigations, in collaboration with HR and U.S.-based legal colleagues.
- Act as a trusted legal advisor to business teams by providing practical guidance on corporate, commercial, employment,
data privacy, regulatory, and governance matters to mitigate legal and business risks.
- Collaborate with U.S.‑based and global legal teams on cross‑border matters, including policy alignment, risk mitigation and investigations.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, service agreements, lease agreements, in coordination with external counsel, regulatory authorities, and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a practicing attorney in employment, labor, contracts, privacy, corporate governance, or related legal fields.
- Full English Fluency
- Partial work overlap with US Time Zone
- Shared Services Company Experience PLUS
- International company background
- Experience serving as in-house counsel or advising multinational corporate clients and conducting and managing workplace investigations.
- Demonstrated experience advising senior business leaders and Human Resources professionals.
- Experience supporting multiple jurisdictions and legal entities within a multinational organization and Strong knowledge of Indian employment and corporate law.
- Experience navigating issues involving Indian labor law as part of a broader legal portfolio and with a business perspective and ability to steer highly matrixed environments and manage competing business priorities.
