Erection Engineer Checklist DG Set Projects

Job Title- Erection Engineer / Site Engineer - Data Centre

Education: B.Tech/ Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical

Job Summary:

Site Engineer must ensure safe, correct, and timely installation of DG sets, panels, fuel system, exhaust system, earthing, and cabling as per approved drawings, standards, and safety norms. Data Centre experience is preferred.

1. Pre-Site Preparation & Resource Readiness Verify approved drawings, layouts, P&IDs;, piping/cable schedules, and ensure site readiness, manpower safety induction, tools, lifting equipment, testing kits, and PPE availability before mobilization.

2. Material Handling & Equipment Installation – Inspect and verify receipt/storage of DG sets, heat exchangers, pumps, cooling towers, piping, valves, and accessories; carry out proper installation, alignment, levelling, grouting, and mounting of DG sets and associated equipment as per approved drawings.

3. Mechanical System Installation – Execute installation of exhaust, fuel, water cooling, and piping systems including silencers, insulation, versatile joints, valves, strainers, NRVs, vents, drains, supports, expansion loops, and hydro/pressure testing of pipelines.

Cooling Water & Cooling Tower Integration – Install and commission heat exchangers, cooling water/raw water pumps, cooling tower structures, piping connections, gauges, VFD/starter panels, and ensure proper alignment, rotation checks, water quality, and chemical dosing systems.

5. Electrical, Cabling & Earthing Works – Install AMF/synchronizing panels, lay and terminate LT/HT cables, verify control wiring/interlocks for DG–HE–Pump–CT systems, conduct IR tests, and ensure proper earthing/bonding with resistance monitoring and logs.

6. Pre-Commissioning & Testing Activities – Perform leak tests, hydrotests, insulation tests, alignment and rotation checks, verify oil/coolant/fuel/battery conditions, confirm relay settings, alarms, interlocks, and sensor feedback systems before commissioning.

7. Safety, Compliance & Project Documentation – Ensure adherence to PPE, PTW, rigging, welding, fire safety, MSDS, and site safety practices while maintaining daily logs, installation/test reports, inspection clearances, as-built drawings, and final handover.
