Job Summary

Databorough India is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior IBM i (RPG) / Synon Software Developer to join our growing technology team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in IBM i (AS/400), RPG, RPGLE, CL, CLLE, Synon, and DB2/400, along with proven experience in application development, production support, troubleshooting, and system maintenance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining business-critical applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Participate in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications and systems.
- Develop and enhance applications using IBM i technologies, including RPG, RPGLE, CL, CLLE, and Synon.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, including handling batch jobs and investigating message waits (MSGWs).
- Collaborate with team members, QA teams, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Conduct and participate in code reviews to maintain coding standards and software quality.
- Perform various levels of testing to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of applications.
- Maintain and update technical documentation for new and existing applications, including process flows and system diagrams.
- Keep Project Leads and Managers informed about project progress, risks, issues, and changes.
- Support client requirements and proactively address concerns and questions.
- Adhere to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and established development processes.




- Continuously learn and stay updated on emerging technologies, development practices, and industry trends.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and enhance overall client satisfaction.

Technical Skills & Expertise

Required Skills

- Strong hands-on experience with IBM i (AS/400) application development.
- Expertise in RPG, RPGLE, CL, and CLLE programming.
- Experience with Synon (CA 2E) application development, design, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of DB2/400 databases and file systems.
- Experience in application analysis, development, enhancement.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for production incidents and system issues.

Preferred Skills

- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Knowledge of software development best practices and coding standards.
- Experience with application modernization projects is an advantage.

Education & Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or MCA.
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in IBM i (AS/400), RPG, and Synon development.
