Position: - Senior Engineer - Sourcing & Costing for the Aerospace and Defence industry

1. Job Objective

To manage RFQ sourcing and costing activities for wiring harness and cable assembly products, ensuring accurate, competitive and timely quotations through effective supplier development, material price analysis, negotiation and cost modelling.

2. Primary Responsibilities

RFQ & BOM Analysis

- Review customer RFQ, BOM, drawings, specifications and technical requirements.
- Identify material requirements and critical components.
- Validate MPN, manufacturer, quantity, UOM and technical requirements.
- Identify missing or ambiguous BOM information and coordinate with Engineering.

3. Strategic Sourcing

- Identify and develop suppliers for wires, cables, connectors, terminals and accessories.
- Obtain competitive quotations from multiple suppliers.
- Develop alternate suppliers for critical and long-lead components.
- Maintain approved supplier and price databases.

4. Costing

- Prepare detailed material-level costing.
- Develop should-cost models.
- Analyse material, labour, process, tooling/NRE, overhead and other costs.




- Benchmark supplier prices against historical and market prices.
- Analyse cost variance and recommend corrective action.

5. Supplier Negotiation

- Negotiate price, MOQ, lead time, payment terms and commercial conditions.
- Conduct supplier price comparison.
- Drive cost reduction through volume consolidation, alternate sourcing and negotiation.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with:

- Engineering
- SCM / Procurement
- Production
- Quality

7. Technical Knowledge Required

Candidate should understand:

- Wiring harness manufacturing processes
- Cable assembly construction
- Connector systems
- Wire and cable specifications
- Terminal/contact selection
- Shielding and grounding
- Heat-shrink and protective materials
- Electrical testing
- Tooling and applicator requirements
