- Own an API service or a capability end-to-end — from contract to production, including SLOs, observability, and evolution over time.
- Design for multi-tenant use where relevant — tenant scoping, quotas, and tenant-aware observability.
- Own performance and query engineering — execution plans, indexing, DynamoDB access patterns.
- Design and lead schema evolution on live production databases without downtime.
- Handle distributed-systems reliability end-to-end — idempotency, retries, dedup, partial failure, replay.
- Own API versioning and deprecation for a capability; communicate with consumer teams.
- Own security-relevant design for owned services: auth flows, secret handling, protected defaults, dependency-vulnerability response.

A production capability service end-to-end: contract, auth, data model, observability, CI/CD, incident response, and evolution over time.
- Deep Java + Spring Boot —
- Spring Security, Spring Data, transactional patterns, async processing, connection pooling.

Spring

WebFlux / Reactor familiarity is a plus.

- Real security engineering: OAuth2 and OIDC flows implemented in production (authorization code + PKCE,



client credentials, refresh)

- JWT validation and lifecycle
- JWKS handling; secret management with AWS Secrets Manager or equivalent
- TLS; dependency vulnerability scanning in CI.
- Query performance: EXPLAIN plans, index selection, N+1 pattern awareness, DynamoDB access-pattern modeling.
- Redis / caching discipline — cache vs. broker, invalidation strategy, TTLs.
- Distributed systems literacy: idempotency, retries, duplicate event handling, partial failure, replay, ordering.
- Async and eventing: SQS / SNS publish and consume, DLQ awareness, backpressure.
- AWS depth: IAM mental model, service selection, security basics, cost awareness.
- API design at capability level: versioning, deprecation, error taxonomy, backward compatibility.
- Observability: metrics, structured logs, traces; comfortable in Grafana / Prometheus / Loki or CloudWatch equivalent.
- Production ownership: on-call experience, incident response, postmortems.
- Testing strategy across unit, integration, contract, and (where relevant) load.
