About The Role The GA GECC Lead Protection and Control (CCS) Engineer at GE Vernova will play a pivotal role in executing control system engineering activities for high-voltage substations, including EHV and HV projects. This position requires a highly skilled qualified capable of managing complex design tasks, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements. The engineer will oversee the entire lifecycle of protection and control panel design, from technical calculations and component selection to detailed design review and factory acceptance testing.

This role involves close collaboration with project managers, suppliers, and clients to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, leadership qualities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring the seamless integration of control systems into power infrastructure projects globally.

Qualifications The successful candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline from a reputable university. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in high-voltage and extra-high-voltage substation design and engineering is essential.



Familiarity with GE products and competitor offerings, as well as a comprehensive understanding of substation automation systems, digital substations, and communication protocols such as IEC61850, PRP, RSTP, and serial communication standards, is required.

Proficiency in English and/or Arabic, both written and spoken, is necessary. The candidate must also demonstrate a willingness and ability to travel internationally without restrictions, supporting global project execution.

Responsibilities

- Execute detailed design and engineering activities for protection and control panels in EHV/HV substations, ensuring adherence to quality, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Interpret project technical requirements, customer standards, and specifications; propose solutions aligned with project scope.
- Perform technical calculations for panel AC/DC loads, CT/PT sizing, relay settings, and system adequacy assessments.
- Select appropriate protection relays and auxiliary materials based on technical specifications and customer needs.
- Prepare, review, and submit detailed design documentation for customer approval, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to specify and design projects according to established standards and specifications.
- Coordinate manufacturing documentation for panel integration, supporting factory activities during assembly and FAT processes.
- Assist management with effort estimation during ITO stages and control resources during OTR phases.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality design documents to stakeholders, maintaining project schedules.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, contributing technical insights and solutions.
- Engage in project strategy development alongside project managers, managing design issues to resolution.
- Analyze customer requirements, prepare compliance documentation,



and identify potential risks or exceptions.
- Raise change requests for deviations from project specifications and validate final designs before customer acceptance.
- Optimize project costs through standardization and innovative ideas from design to energization stages.
- Review and validate technical offers from suppliers, support procurement negotiations, and assist during post-order activities.
- Enhance design solutions to meet customer expectations efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, promoting a Zero Deviation Plan within the team.
- Maintain effective communication with customers to deliver excellent service and foster strong relationships.
- Work with application teams to resolve product issues and develop customer-centric solutions.
