About The Role The GA GECC Lead Protection and Control (CCS) Engineer at GE Vernova will play a pivotal role in executing conventional control system engineering activities for high-voltage substations. This position involves managing the design, development, and implementation of protection and control panels for EHV/HV substations, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. The engineer will oversee project design activities from conception through to delivery, coordinating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure seamless execution.

Responsibilities include performing detailed technical calculations, selecting appropriate protection relays and auxiliary materials, preparing detailed design documentation, and supporting manufacturing and testing processes. The role demands a proactive approach to project management, cost optimization, and risk mitigation, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions within stipulated budgets and schedules. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to project reviews, technical assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline from a reputed university. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in HV/EHV substation design and engineering is required. Knowledge of GE products and competitors' offerings,



as well as expertise in substation automation systems, digital substations, and communication protocols such as IEC61850, PRP, RSTP, and serial communication, is essential.

Proficiency in English and/or Arabic communication skills, both written and oral, is necessary. The candidate must demonstrate the ability and willingness to travel globally without restrictions, supporting international projects and client interactions.

Responsibilities

- Execute design and engineering activities for protection and control panels of EHV/HV substations, adhering to quality, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Understand project technical requirements, customer standards, and specifications; propose solutions aligned with project scope.
- Perform technical calculations for panel AC/DC loads, CT/PT sizing, relay settings, and verify their adequacy.
- Select protection relays and auxiliary materials in accordance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
- Prepare, review, and submit detailed design documentation to customers, ensuring timely approval and compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to specify and design projects according to technical standards and specifications.
- Coordinate manufacturing documentation and support factory activities during panel integration and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
- Support project management with man-days and material estimations during ITO and OTR stages, maintaining control over project costs.
- Ensure on-time delivery of designs and documentation, maintaining high quality standards.
- Participate in project design reviews and contribute to project strategy development in collaboration with project managers.
- Analyze customer technical requirements, identify potential risks or deviations, and raise change requests when necessary.
- Validate final designs during customer acceptance,



ensuring consistency with engineering documents and customer expectations.
- Work towards cost optimization through standardization and innovative design approaches from initial phases through energization.
- Review and validate technical offers from suppliers, supporting procurement negotiations and post-order activities.
- Continuously seek to improve design solutions to meet evolving customer needs efficiently.
- Demonstrate commitment to environmental health and safety (EHS) standards, promoting a zero-deviation safety culture within the team.
- Maintain effective communication with customers to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with application teams to address product issues and develop effective customer solutions.
