Purpose of the Role:
Support supplier development for electronics for the LEO satellite constellation. The role generates specifications, carryout RFQ management, coordinates electronics vendors day to day, supports vendor qualification, and maintains vendor documentation for systems, assemblies, and EEE parts, as part of the manufacturing and supply-chain team.
Job Responsibilities:
Specifications & RFQ management
- Work with system engineering team to translate system requirements to component level specs,
- Scouting suppliers for avionics systems, evaluating them against technical requirements, flight heritage and qualification status
- floating RFQs and and evaluating offers & recommendations
Electronics Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate day to day with electronics vendors on purchase orders, fabrication schedules, and build progress for systems, assemblies, components and EEE parts including imported items.
- Track deliverables and milestones, expedite where needed, and manage technical queries on components, footprints, and manufacturing.
- Support clarification between vendors and the design team on requirement specifications, schematics, BOMs, component selection, and EEE-parts substitutions and obsolescence.
Vendor Qualification
- Support vendor qualification, including facility and capability assessment and process audits (soldering, assembly, conformal coating, cleanliness, and ESD controls).
- Support first-article inspection and sample-build acceptance for PCBs and assemblies.
- Review EEE-parts qualification and screening, including datasheet and derating review, lot acceptance, and traceability documentation.
Documentation & Incoming Acceptance
- Compile and maintain vendor documentation such as qualification records, inspection and test reports, and certificates of conformance.
- Support incoming inspection and acceptance of systems, assemblies, and EEE parts.
Record non-conformances and track corrective and preventive actions to closure.
Role Deliverables:
- Electronics vendor coordination and expediting of systems, assemblies, and EEE parts, with progress and issues tracked.
- Supported vendor qualification, including process audits, first-article inspection, and lot acceptance.
- Complete vendor documentation: qualification records, inspection and test reports, and certificates of conformance.
- Incoming inspection and non-conformance and corrective actions supported and closed.
Skills required:
- Awareness of PCB fabrication and assembly, EEE parts, soldering and ESD, and electronics manufacturing.
- Procurement, vendor evaluation, techno commercial analysis
- Vendor coordination, expediting, and documentation.
- Vendor and EEE-parts qualification, screening, and first-article inspection.
- Incoming inspection and non-conformance handling.
- Attention to detail and follow-through.
Education Qualification: BE or BTech in Electronics Engineering; ME or MTech desirable.
