Purpose of the Role:
Support supplier development for mechanical parts, sub systems, structures and assemblies for the LEO satellite constellation. The role coordinates mechanical vendors day to day, supports vendor qualification and incoming acceptance, and maintains vendor documentation, as part of the manufacturing and supply-chain team.
Job Responsibilities:
Specifications & RFQ management
- Work with system engineering team to translate system requirements to component level specs,
- Scouting suppliers for mechanical systems, evaluating them against technical requirements, flight heritage and qualification status
- floating RFQs (Request for Quotations) and evaluating offers & recommendations
Mechanical Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate day to day with mechanical vendors on purchase orders, drawings, schedules, and manufacturing progress.
- Track deliverables and milestones, expedite where needed, and flag delays, non-conformances, and technical queries.
- Support technical clarification between vendors and the design team on drawings, materials, tolerances, and processes (machining, sheet metal, castings, and surface treatment, composite hardware).
Vendor Qualification
- Support vendor qualification, including capability and facility assessment, process capability review, first-article inspection (FAI), sample builds, and process validation.
- Support special-process qualification where applicable (for example, welding, heat treatment, coatings, and NDT.
- Track qualification status and follow up on corrective actions.
Documentation & Incoming Acceptance
- Compile and maintain vendor documentation such as qualification records, inspection reports, material certificates, and route or process cards.
- Support incoming inspection and acceptance of mechanical parts and assemblies.
Record non-conformances and track corrective and preventive actions to closure.
Role Deliverables:
- Mechanical vendor coordination and expediting, with progress and issues tracked.
- Supported vendor qualifications, including FAI, sample builds, and special-process validation.
- Complete vendor documentation: qualification records, inspection reports, and material certificates.
- Incoming inspection and non-conformance actions supported and closed.
Skills required:
- Awareness of mechanical manufacturing processes .

Education Qualification: BE or BTech in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Production Engineering; ME or MTech desirable.
