- Growth function. CIR develops research on complex and emerging business issues that cut across industries, functions, technologies, and broader economic and societal trends.
Our work brings together perspectives from multiple domains to help business leaders understand what is changing, why it matters, and how they should respond. CIR’s research spans campaign areas including Technology &
- Transformation , Enterprise Growth &
- Innovation , Workforce Trends , and Environmental &
- Social Issues , as well as foresight and incubation work (internal).
The Specialist will contribute to thought-leadership and research projects across the full research lifecycle, from research design and evidence gathering through analysis, insight development, writing, and development of executive-ready outputs.
The role requires strong research and analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to quickly build familiarity with unfamiliar topics. The candidate should be comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative evidence and translating complex information into clear, differentiated business insights.
CIR deliverables include research reports, articles, surveys, case studies, data-driven analyses, executive briefings, presentations, and other thought-leadership content.
Responsibilities
As a Specialist, you will be expected to:
- Conduct primary and secondary research across a broad range of business, technology, economic, workforce, and societal topics.
- Quickly develop familiarity with new subject areas and synthesize information from multiple sources into clear research findings and insights.
- Support the development of research proposals, hypotheses, research questions, methodologies, and project plans.
- Independently manage defined research workstreams, including literature reviews, data analysis, interviews, case studies, and market or trend analysis.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative datasets and translate findings into meaningful business implications.
- Identify patterns, connections, and emerging signals across different domains rather than simply summarize available information.
- Conduct interviews and discussions with Deloitte subject-matter experts, business leaders, academics, and external specialists, and synthesize key takeaways.
- Partner with senior researchers to develop strong research narratives, points of view, and recommended actions.
- Draft sections of research reports, articles, executive briefings, presentations, and other thought-leadership content.
- Develop clear charts, frameworks, and data visualizations that communicate the underlying insight effectively.
- Apply critical thinking to evaluate evidence, challenge assumptions, identify research gaps, and test hypotheses.
- Use generative AI and other research tools to improve research discovery, analysis, synthesis, and writing while ensuring appropriate validation of sources and findings.
- Contribute to horizon scanning and sensing activities to identify emerging trends, technologies, business models, and other developments relevant to CIR’s research agenda.
- Work closely with U.S. and global colleagues, researchers, subject-matter experts, and other internal stakeholders to incorporate feedback and support project priorities.
- Support senior researchers in preparing for executive briefings, webinars, internal discussions, and client-facing conversations.
- Manage assigned activities and deliverables to agreed quality standards and project timelines.
Experience
Requisite Experience and Skills
- 3–6 years of experience in business research, thought leadership, strategy research, market intelligence, consulting research, academic research, or a related field.
- Experience contributing to research projects involving complex or emerging business issues.
- Experience working with U.S. or global teams and stakeholders is preferred.
Research And Analytical Skills
- Strong primary and secondary research skills, with experience in one or more areas such as surveys, interviews, quantitative analysis, qualitative research, case-study research, or academic research.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret evidence, identify patterns, and develop data-driven insights.
- Ability to work across diverse topics and quickly develop a working understanding of unfamiliar subject areas.
- Strong synthesis skills, with the ability to connect findings across multiple sources and domains.
- Ability to distinguish between a research finding and a broader business insight and clearly articulate why the insight matters.
- Ability to work with quantitative and qualitative datasets and communicate findings through effective charts and visualizations.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Python, R, or similar analytical tools is an advantage.
Writing And Communication Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop clear, concise, evidence-based content for senior business audiences.
- Strong narrative writing skills and experience contributing to research reports, articles, presentations, or similar content.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple and structured manner.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to incorporate feedback from researchers, subject-matter experts, and senior stakeholders.
Generative AI and Emerging Research Tools
- Proficiency in using generative AI tools for research discovery, synthesis, analysis, and business writing.
- Understanding of the need to validate AI-generated information, sources, data, and conclusions.
- Experience using generative AI or other tools for horizon scanning and identification of emerging signals is preferred.
- Familiarity with custom GPTs, research agents, or GenAI-enabled research workflows is an added advantage.

The Deloitte Research &

team conducts research and analysis to develop compelling, forward-looking perspectives that enable clients to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to what is coming next. The team plays an integral role in strengthening Deloitte’s strategic positioning by developing high-quality thought leadership published through Deloitte Insights and other Deloitte channels.
Its work includes
- Managing relationships with internal stakeholders and subject-matter experts.
- Using survey, analytics, data science, and other research capabilities to strengthen the credibility of insights.
- Applying editorial and visualization capabilities to make complex research accessible and engaging.
Qualifications, Experience, Work Location, and Timing
- Academic qualification: Master’s degree such as MBA, PGDM, Economics, Business Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or another relevant research-oriented discipline.
- Work experience: 3–6 years.
- Location: Mumbai
- Work hours: 11 am – 8 pm
