Role Description The Senior Plastic Injection Mold Designer will lead the design and development of injection molds, primarily for automotive and other industrial applications, ensuring manufacturability, durability, and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities include creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, performing design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and validating designs through mold flow analysis and other engineering tools. The role involves guiding junior designers, reviewing projects for quality and adherence to specifications,
and coordinating with tool rooms and suppliers during mold fabrication and trials. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Ernakulam, requiring daily presence at the design facility and close collaboration with the engineering team.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in plastic injection mold design, including part design, mold layout, and tooling concepts for automotive and other industries.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD software and experience preparing detailed 2D engineering drawings.
- Hands-on experience with mold flow analysis, DFM reviews, tolerance analysis, and optimization of gating, cooling, and ejection systems.
- Knowledge of plastic materials, manufacturing processes, and standards relevant to automotive, electrical, and electronic components.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor junior designers, and coordinate with production, suppliers, and customers.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Bachelor’s or diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or a related discipline; prior experience in a mold design or tool room setting is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Ernakulam on a full-time basis and manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
