About CollegePass
CollegePass is a premium college admissions advisory firm helping ambitious students gain admission to leading universities in the US and globally.
We are expanding our Master's admissions practice, with an initial focus on applicants targeting highly selective US programs in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Engineering.
We are looking for an experienced MS Admissions Expert who can independently evaluate applicant profiles, develop admissions strategies and guide students through the complete application process.
This is not a sales, visa-processing or university-agent role.
The Role
As a Senior MS Admissions Expert, you will work one-on-one with students applying to competitive US Master's programs.
You will be responsible for understanding each applicant's academic and professional background, identifying the right programs, developing an application strategy and helping the student present a compelling and credible application.
We are looking for someone who understands that applying to Stanford, CMU, Columbia, Berkeley, Georgia Tech, UIUC or similar universities requires considerably more than simply matching a GPA to a university ranking.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate students' academic backgrounds, internships, research, projects, work experience, test scores and career goals.
- Develop personalised admissions strategies for US Master's applicants.
- Build ambitious, target and safer university/program portfolios based on the student's actual profile.
- Advise students specifically on MS Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Engineering and related STEM programs.
- Research programs, prerequisites, admissions requirements, curriculum fit and applicant competitiveness.
- Help students identify weaknesses in their profiles and determine how these should be addressed or positioned.
- Develop the overall narrative and positioning of each application.
- Guide students through Statements of Purpose, Personal Statements, resumes/CVs and other application essays.
- Advise students on recommendation-letter strategy and selection of recommenders.
- Review applications before submission for strategy, consistency and quality.
- Conduct regular one-on-one advising sessions and keep students accountable to application timelines.
- Prepare students for admissions interviews where required.
- Work with the CollegePass team to continuously improve our graduate admissions frameworks, university research and advising resources.
- Occasionally contribute to webinars, workshops and educational content for prospective MS applicants.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- 3+ years of relevant experience in US graduate admissions, international admissions consulting or closely related admissions advising.
- Hands-on experience advising students applying for US Master's programs.
- Demonstrated experience with university selection, application strategy, SOPs, CVs/resumes and recommendation strategy.
- Solid understanding of competitive US graduate admissions.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical ability—you should be comfortable comparing an applicant's profile against the requirements and competitiveness of different graduate programs.
- Ability to communicate difficult advice clearly and constructively, including telling an applicant when a particular university or program is unrealistic.
- Strong ownership, organisation and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently with students while collaborating with a broader admissions team.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience advising applicants to highly selective US universities.
- Significant experience with Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML or Engineering applicants.
- Personal experience studying at or applying to a highly selective international university.
- Experience mentoring students rather than simply processing applications.
- Familiarity with graduate admissions at universities such as Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley, Columbia, Cornell, Georgia Tech, UIUC, UC San Diego, University of Michigan, NYU and similar institutions.
This Role Is Probably Not for You If
Your experience has primarily involved:
- Student recruitment or lead conversion
- Visa counselling
- Partner-university placements
- Application processing without admissions strategy
- Counselling across many countries without deep US graduate admissions expertise
Those are valuable skills, but they are not what this particular position requires.
How We Evaluate Candidates
We care considerably more about the applications you have actually worked on than the number of years shown on your CV.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a brief admissions case exercise involving a hypothetical US Master's applicant. The exercise will assess university selection, program fit and admissions strategy.
Why CollegePass
You will work with ambitious applicants targeting some of the world's most competitive graduate programs and have the opportunity to help build CollegePass's Master's admissions practice from an early stage.
This is a high-ownership advising position for someone who enjoys the intellectual side of admissions—understanding a student, researching programs, developing strategy and helping applicants put forward their strongest possible case.
