Company Description TAARK ELECTRIC VEHICLES & EQUIPMENTS PVT LTD specializes in battery-operated electric vehicles designed for in-campus material transportation across a wide range of industries, including brick manufacturing, textiles, bleaching units, fireworks, cement, agro products, farms, and poultry operations.
Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Plant, Kinathukadavu, Coimbatore (on-site) | Reports to: Head – Operations (dotted line to Founder & Director) | Experience: 4–8 years, auto / EV / industrial equipment / body-building assembly
- Own the "how we build it" of every TAARK vehicle. Convert released designs into stable, balanced, documented assembly lines at the Kinathukadavu plant, and take the new 1.5T / 2.5T / 3T/Application oriented vehicles & other load-carrier platforms from prototype to SOP without quality escapes.
(scope) :
1. Line establishment, balancing and productivity (20%)
Define station sequence, takt time, cycle-time study, line balancing, manpower per station and operator instruction sheets for loaders, tippers, GLADIA L5 and new platforms. Track hours per vehicle, remove bottlenecks, cut rework. Target line-balance efficiency ≥85% and ≥15% reduction in hours/vehicle in year.
2. Recent model readiness — 5P sign-off (20%)
Own the pre-SOP gate for every new model/variant: Product (drawings released, deviations closed), Process (PFMEA, control plan, work instructions), Parts (all parts approved and kitted), People (operators trained and certified), Plant (fixtures, tools, layout, utilities ready). No pilot build starts without 5P sign-off documentation. Deliver the 1.5T / 2.5T / 3T platforms to SOP on plan with zero major escapes in the first 3 months.
3. MBOM and engineering-change implementation (15%)
Build and maintain the station-wise Manufacturing BOM from the EBOM for every model/variant — consumables,
fasteners, torque specs, kitting lists. Implement ECNs on the line within 5 working days (effectivity, cut-in, obsolete stock). Zero line stoppages due to BOM error.
4. Fixtures, jigs, assembly trolleys and tools planning (15%)
Design, build (in-house or vendor), validate and maintain welding fixtures, chassis jigs, axle/motor fitment jigs, battery-pack handling and assembly trolleys, poka-yoke devices. Own the tool list per station (torque tools, hoists, presses, crimpers, testers), calibration schedule, tool life and spares. Fixture plan per model; first-time-right ≥90% on validation; calibration compliance 100%.
5. Layout, facility planning and construction coordination (10%)
Plant layout for current and new lines — flow, WIP, material presentation, charging bays, test track, incoming stores, weld/paint/assembly zones. Expansion planning; coordinate civil/construction work with contractors and the vaasthu consultant engaged by management. Deliver projects on time and budget; reduce material travel distance.
6. Lean, 5S and Kaizen (10%)
Run the Kaizen programme, 5S audits, VSM, standard work and waste elimination. Train supervisors and operators. Maintain a savings register. ≥2 Kaizens implemented per month; 5S audit score ≥80%.
7. Process documentation and ISO 9001:2015 compliance (10%)
SOPs, work instructions, PFMEA, control plans and inspection checkpoints for all models, aligned to ISO 9001:2015 and traceability requirements.
Zero major NCs in audits.
Cross-functional (runs through all of the above)
Design- DFM/DFA feedback and manufacturability sign-off on new designs. Quality- RCA/CAPA on line defects. Purchase -make-vs-buy for fixtures, packaging standards. Production -daily shop-floor support.
Skill (can do): CAD (SolidWorks/Creo) for fixture and layout design; AutoCAD plant layouts; time study, line balancing, takt calculation; PFMEA, control plan, SOP writing; welding/fabrication process know-how; torque and fastening engineering; basic hydraulics and EV assembly (battery, motor, controller, harness handling); Excel-based MBOM and productivity tracking; supervising contractors.
Knowledge (knows): Lean/TPS principles, 5S, Kaizen, VSM, poka-yoke; ISO 9001:2015 documentation; APQP/PPAP logic; industrial safety for EV assembly (HV handling, lifting); vehicle assembly sequence — chassis, axle, suspension, powertrain, cabin, body; construction basics for factory sheds (utilities, flooring, loads); familiarity with vaasthu norms enough to coordinate with a consultant (not a hiring filter).
Motive (why they work): Driven by making things build right, faster, every day - takes satisfaction in a line that runs without fire-fighting. Wants to build a plant from ground level rather than run a finished one.
Self-image (how they see themselves): "I am the person who makes the design buildable." Owner of the shop-floor system, not a supporter of it. Comfortable being the final say on production readiness and saying "not ready" to seniors.
Traits (how they behave): Hands-on- on the floor, not only at the desk. Disciplined documenter. Data-first (measures before opining). Patient teacher to supervisors and ITI freshers. Calm under launch pressure. Straight communicator; escalates early.
