Working at Teach For India
Teach For India is on a journey to reach an India free of poverty and filled with love by ending educational inequity in our country. Fifteen years into our journey we are a movement of ~5000+ Alumni working at all levels of the education system, who are reaching 1 in 10 children across the country.
These
Alumni have graduated from our two-year Fellowship Program where they taught in under-resourced classrooms to put ~33,500 low-income children on a different life path. Today, we have ~1000 Fellows and are the largest pipeline of driven, skilled talent into the educational ecosystem in India. Over 16,000 Teach For India students have appeared for the 10th grade board examinations till date, with an impressive 95% pass rate across cities as of November 2024.
In 2022, we embarked on Phase 4, our fourth strategic phase. We have a bold and ambitious ten-year journey ahead of us that aims to grow 50,000 leaders, who will work collectively, and with love, to transform the lives of 1 in 10 low-income children in our regions, through an education that unleashes the potential of self, others and India. In this decade, five key priorities will lead us to this vision.
1. Strengthen our core Fellowship to build strong teacher leaders who provide an excellent and equitable education to our children and continue to do so beyond the Fellowship
2. Scale our impact by strategically introducing additional Fellowships as alternative pathways for leadership development
3. Match the Alumni of our programs at an intersection of their interests and the needs of the system and our children
4. Advocate for key issues that impact educational equity, and engage 3.5% of the population in the movement for educational equity
5. Act collectively with our Alumni to learn about and address key issues in our regions.
Our work will only be completed when we have built a movement of leaders that is large enough to ensure that every child in India attains an excellent education. We pride ourselves as being a passionate, idealistic, mission-driven team of individuals. We’re committed to learning and excellence in our roles, and to being deeply rooted in our core values.

Position Summary
Every year, hundreds of members of the Teach For India community graduate and move into our Alumni movement, ready to build careers across the education and development sector.
The Careers vertical exists to make sure that transition, and the decade that follows it, leads our people toward roles of real influence in the movement, not just the next job.
Our work now spans the full Fellow to Alumni arc: sourcing the right opportunities, building readiness across the two-year Fellowship and beyond, and matching leaders to roles that fit both their aspiration and the movement's needs.
The Senior Manager, Careers holds this arc end to end. You will be the operational lead of the Careers vertical, working with and guiding a small team of specialists across sourcing, readiness, matching and data, and holding the cross-functional relationships the strategy depends on while closely holding the partnerships work as your main portfolio. This is a role for someone who can operate as a builder and an integrator at once, and bringing the work of specialists together into one coherent Fellow-Alumni journey.
Responsibilities
Leading the Fellow to Fellow Alumni Journey
- Holding the Careers for Alumni strategy along with the Director, Careers and Director, Alumni engagement and translating this strategy into an operating plan
- Translate the Fellow-Alumni strategy into a practical operating plan across relevant work streams and hold delivery against it end-to-end.
- Hold the cross-functional relationships the strategy depends on: with programme and regional teams for execution, strategy and impact and technology teams for strengthening foundations and the Alumni engagement team for a cohesive strategy and delivery to Fellowship Alumni
- Make sure sourcing roles and opportunities, preparation and matching work in concert rather than in parallel, across the full journey.
- Support the team to hone our understanding of and ability to match effectively, while also owning and executing critical matches, especially for strategic roles in the eco-system that will accelerate our progress towards our broader phase 4 goals
Owning Partnerships and sourcing
- Hold partnerships strategically across the full Fellow-Alumni journey: setting the direction on which organisations and pathways the movement builds toward, with deliberate focus on the areas currently under-represented among our Alumni, roles in government, in funding and philanthropy, and in organisations that shape the wider sector.
- Drive the shift from sourcing for volume to sourcing for long-term fit, curating opportunities that are genuine entry points into three-to-ten-year career pathways, not just strong first jobs.
- Lead strategy and execution on partnerships work where the journey most needs it built, particularly on the Alumni side, where the sourcing infrastructure for later career stages does not yet exist: the mid-career transition roles that help Alumni grow toward influence, and, with senior leadership, the more senior governance, policy and funding roles that Alumni move into over time.
- Hold the most senior employer and sector relationships personally, and deepen Teach For India's role as a long-term talent partner to the sector, not just an organisation that fills vacancies.
Keep employers and Alumni engaged and aware of opportunities through the year.
- Move the vertical from an end-of-cycle Career Fair burst toward a continuous, year-round presence in the sector.
Overseeing readiness, matching and data
- Oversee the design and delivery of the readiness journey across the full Fellow-Alumni journey, making sure preparation for careers is built steadily across the two Fellowship years and continues to support Alumni at later stages.
- Oversee the redesign of the Career Fair from a job board into a platform that matches leaders to roles based on their strengths and long-term goals, working with the human resources, technology and data teams.
- Oversee the build of the data foundation the strategy depends on, a single, reliable source of information on Fellows and Alumni, and the matching tools that sit on top of it, holding its priority and pace with the technology team.
