SAP Finance Technical / Functional Consultant

Role Summary

We are seeking a strong SAP Finance Technical / Functional Consultant with hands-on experience across SAP ECC and SAP S/4 Finance, who can bridge SAP functional knowledge with technical data and analytics requirements.

The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge of SAP FI/CO business processes, strong ability to read and debug ABAP, understand S/4 Finance data models, CDS Views, extractors, and source tables, and translate SAP logic into accurate mappings and transformation requirements for downstream analytical platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as an SAP Finance SME across SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, with strong understanding of FI/CO processes including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Asset Accounting, Product Costing, and financial close processes.

Understand S/4 Finance architecture, including Universal Journal / ACDOCA, Business Partner, Material Ledger, CDS Views, and S/4 data-model simplifications.

Analyze and debug ABAP programs, custom Z programs, function modules, BADIs, user exits, CDS Views, and SAP reports to identify underlying business logic.

Identify SAP source tables, fields, joins, filters, calculations, derivations, and aggregation logic used within Finance reports and transactions.

Translate SAP functional and technical logic into clear source-to-target mappings and transformation specifications for Data Engineering and Analytics teams.

Analyze and troubleshoot SAP extractors, CDS-based extraction, SLT replication, and custom data interfaces.





Validate data movement between SAP and downstream analytical systems, including delta logic, master-data dependencies, currency handling, and reconciliation.

Lead technical reconciliation between SAP ECC/S/4 and analytical platforms, validating document-level data, financial amounts, balances, record counts, and reporting results.

Support Unit Testing, Integration Testing, UAT, regression testing, and production validation.

Work closely with Finance, SAP, Data Engineering, and BI teams to ensure analytical solutions accurately reproduce SAP business logic.

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience with SAP FI/CO.

Robust experience with SAP ECC and SAP S/4 Finance.

Deep understanding of S/4 Universal Journal / ACDOCA and Finance data models.

Strong ability to read, analyze, and debug ABAP.

Experience with SAP tables, CDS Views, extractors, ODP, and custom Z programs.

Strong knowledge of source-to-target mapping, data lineage, transformation logic, and reconciliation.

Ability to troubleshoot discrepancies between SAP transactional reports and downstream analytical systems.

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate between Finance functional teams and technical data teams.

Good to Have

Databricks / Delta Lake experience.

Strong SQL knowledge.

Experience with SAP BW extractors, SLT, ODP, or CDS-based extraction.

Experience supporting ECC-to-S/4 migration or modernization programs.

Exposure to Power BI or other enterprise analytics platforms.

Understanding of dimensional modeling and modern cloud data architecture.
