Cherry Bekaert is hiring a Manager – Sales Tax Consulting for its Global Shared Services (GSS) team in India. This role supports U.S. clients on multistate sales and use tax consulting and advisory engagements.
This is a consulting-focused role, not a routine compliance role. The Manager will lead client engagements, provide technical insights, manage projects, and guide the India-based consulting team.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Tax Consulting
Lead multistate sales & use tax consulting engagements.
Perform nexus, taxability, and exposure analysis.
Advise clients on voluntary disclosures, registrations, audits, reverse audits, and exemptions.
Identify tax risks and provide practical recommendations.
Support sales tax process improvement and tax technology initiatives.
Client & Project Management
Act as a key contact for U.S. clients and engagement teams.
Lead client meetings and communicate recommendations clearly.
Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Ensure high-quality, client-ready work.
Technical & Team Leadership
Research and resolve complex multistate sales tax issues.
Review technical analysis, calculations, and client deliverables.
Manage, coach, and mentor Seniors and Associates.
Provide technical guidance and regular feedback.
Build team knowledge through training and knowledge sharing.
Global Delivery
Coordinate effectively with U.S. and India teams.
Ensure smooth handoffs and timely project completion.
Maintain organized project documentation and trackers.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and leverage technology.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in Sales & Use Tax Consulting / SALT Advisory.
Strong experience with multistate sales tax consulting.
Knowledge of nexus, taxability, exposure analysis, VDA, audit support, and exemptions.
Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills.
Experience with tax technology platforms is preferred.
Strong client communication and project management skills.
Experience managing and mentoring team members.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
