Project Brief
CARDIO-India (Integrated, Co-developed Intervention for Detection and Management of Cardiometabolic Risk Factors in Older Indians) is a five-year multidisciplinary research programme focused on improving the early detection, treatment, and management of cardiometabolic risk factors among older people in India. The project uses community engagement, qualitative and mixed-methods research, digital health technologies, telemedicine, and primary healthcare approaches to co-create and evaluate an innovative model of care. The programme will generate evidence on the experiences, perspectives, barriers, facilitators, and acceptability of the intervention, with the aim of developing a scalable model for improving cardiovascular health among older adults in India.
The Research Consultant will support the qualitative research and evidence synthesis activities of the CARDIO- India project.
The consultant will be responsible for accurately transcribing and translating qualitative research data.
This role will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary research team and handling research data with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical sensitivity. Consultants will work remotely and will be expected to independently manage assigned tasks while meeting agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Listen to Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) and prepare accurate transcript in the respective language.
- Translate qualitative transcripts from Hindi, Kannada, or Gujarati into English, as applicable.
- Support qualitative data analysis, including coding, category development, and theme development.
- Review transcripts and translations for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and quality.
- Support ongoing qualitative evidence synthesis activities.
- Complete assigned tasks within agreed timelines and maintain high standards of research quality.
Responsibilities And Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in Public Health, Psychology, Epidemiology, Health Sciences or Health Research, Sociology and Anthropology, Social Work, Behavioural Sciences, or other relevant Social Science or Health- related disciplines.
Skills &
- Experience
- Proficiency in Hindi or Kannada or Gujarati, with robust spoken and written skills.
- Good proficiency in English,
particularly for translation and research documentation.
- Ability to listen to qualitative interviews and discussions and prepare accurate transcripts and English translations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in transcription, translation, and data handling.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow ethical standards while handling research data.
- Ability to work independently and meet agreed timelines in a remote working environment.
Learning Experience The consultants will gain practical exposure to:
- Qualitative health and public health research.
- Transcription and translation development in qualitative research data.
- Qualitative coding, analysis, and thematic development.
- Working with an interdisciplinary research team and contributing to ongoing research activities.
