Company Description The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is India’s apex organization for planning, coordinating, and promoting biomedical research, and is among the oldest and largest medical research bodies worldwide. Funded by the Government of India through the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, ICMR leads national efforts to advance health science and public health. Its 28 National Institutes focus on priority areas such as communicable diseases, nutrition, toxicology, oncology, reproductive health, and medical statistics, while 6 Regional Medical Research Centres address region-specific health challenges and strengthen local research capacity.

ICMR’s research agenda aligns closely with national health priorities, including the control of communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, environmental and occupational health, mental health, and drug research. Work at ICMR contributes directly to reducing disease burden and improving the health and well-being of communities across India.

Role Description The Project Research Scientist II will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing biomedical and public health research projects in line with ICMR priorities. Day-to-day tasks include developing study protocols, conducting literature reviews, coordinating data collection, supervising research staff, and ensuring adherence to ethical and regulatory guidelines. The role involves analyzing and interpreting data, preparing technical reports, manuscripts, and grant documents,



and presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders.

The Project Research

Scientist II will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, liaise with institutional partners, and support capacity-building activities such as mentoring junior researchers. This is a full-time, in office role based in North Delhi.

Qualifications

- Strong background in biomedical or public health research, including study design, protocol development, and scientific writing.
- Demonstrated skills in data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and/or qualitative research findings.
- Experience in project coordination, team supervision, and cross-functional collaboration within research or clinical settings.
- Knowledge of research ethics, regulatory compliance, and national/international guidelines relevant to biomedical research.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Medical Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related fields).
- Proficiency in standard office and research software; experience with statistical tools (such as R, SPSS, STATA, or similar) is an advantage.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, publications, and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Prior experience in government or academic research institutions, and familiarity with ICM
